بابوسر پاس عام طور پر نومبر کے آس پاس شروع ہونے والے سردیوں کے موسم کے لیے بند ہو جاتا ہے، شدید برف باری اور منجمد درجہ حرارت کی وجہ سے جو راستے کو خطرناک بنا دیتے ہیں۔
سڑک عام طور پر تقریباً آٹھ ماہ تک بند رہتی ہے، موسمی حالات کے لحاظ سے مئی یا جون کے آخر میں دوبارہ کھل جاتی ہے۔
اس دوران، گلگت بلتستان جیسے شمالی علاقوں کی طرف جانے والے مسافر متبادل راستے کے طور پر شاہراہ قراقرم (KKH) کا استعمال کرتے ہیں۔
