In photography, the golden hour is the period of daytime shortly after sunrise or before sunset, during which daylight is redder and softer than when the sun is higher in the sky.

The golden hour is also sometimes called the "magic hour," especially by cinematographers. During these times, the brightness of the sky matches the brightness of streetlights, signs, car headlights and lit windows.

The period of time shortly before the magic hour at sunrise, or after it at sunset, is called the "blue hour". This is when the sun is at a significant depth below the horizon, when residual, indirect sunlight takes on a predominantly blue shade, and there are no sharp shadows because the sun either has not risen, or has set.

The best view of Toronto's skyline in my opinion is form Toronto Center Island. It is a short ferry ride form Toronto and a round trip costs around CAD 9.00. It is well worth it to stay for the sunset.

Despite the tragic history of the Hall of the Abencerrajes at Alhambra, it is THE most beautiful room in any European palace I have seen during my 5 years of traveling in Europe. The walls are covered in Quranic verses, carved into the plaster. However, the most impressive feature of the room is its dome. It is entirely composed of "muqarnas", ornamented vaulting in Islamic architecture, sometimes known as “honeycomb vaulting or “Stalactite vaulting". The purpose of muqarnas is to create a smooth, decorative zone of transition in an otherwise bare, structural space. This structure gives the ability to distinguish between the main parts of a building, and serve as a transition from the walls of a room into a domed ceiling. Muqarnas is significant in Islamic architecture, because its elaborate form is a symbolic representation of universal creation by God.
