About PGC
The Punjab Group of Colleges established its first facility, the Punjab College of Commerce. In 1985 in Muslim Town on Canal Bank in Lahore, followed a few years later by the Punjab Law College. Since then the Punjab Group (PGC) has successfully branched out into various cities of Punjab. Following arrangements with foreign accredited universities, Punjab College of Business Administration (PCBA) was established in 1991 and Punjab Institute of Computer Science (PICS), in 1993, at Lahore. Both institutions emerged as highly specialized schools, training individuals as successful professional managers and computer scientists. With a view to meeting academic needs of students, the Group went ahead and established another network in various cities of the Punjab by the name of ‘Punjab College of Information Technology’ (PCIT), the first having been established in Lahore in 2000. Since the establishment of first College of Commerce in 1985, the network of Punjab Colleges has grown from a single college to the largest network of private colleges in Commerce, IT and Science Disciplines with 70 colleges in thirty one cities of Pakistan. In order to pay homage to the Holy Prophet (PBUH), the college organizes a Mehfil- e- Milad every year during the last decade of Ramadan. Students of the college glorify the greatness of the life and the teachings of the Prophet (PBUH) in their passionate voices. Annual Mushaira is yet another co-curricular event aimed at enhancing and applauding the creative literary spirit of the youth. Students feel elevated when they get an opportunity to recite their poetic effort before the prominent literary figures of the country. To assess the learning ability of the students on monthly basis, Punjab Colleges have a very disciplined and regular system of monthly tests. Libraries play a vital role in every educational system, and their importance in modern education is undeniable. They not only consolidate classroom knowledge but give the students opportunities to develop insight, and research-oriented learning. All campuses of Punjab Colleges have extensive academic libraries. A large variety of periodicals and journals is available in the libraries, along with invaluable books on Information Technology, Business and other elated fields. Books on Literature, Language, Religion, Philosophy and other disciplines are available in all libraries of Punjab Colleges. All the libraries are air-conditioned and specifically designed. Faculty members, students and research scholars can borrow library material barring reference books for a period specified for each category. Reference books are to be consulted within the library premises to ensure availability to all students. Newly-received books are listed on the library notice boards on the last day of each month to inform students of their arrival. Trained staff is ever-present to assist the students in the use of catalogues, reference books and in searching for any required/relevant information from the library. For the smooth functioning of the libraries, certain rules and regulations have been chalked out which are to be strictly followed. The library staff is polite and accommodating to the students who in turn are expected to be respectful and co-operative. All the libraries of PCC/PCS/PCW are in the process of being interlinked shortly through a computer network. Each college of the Punjab Group encourages self-expression. The College magazine is the platform for the students to show their creative writing skills. To compete with the challenges of the 21st Century, the Colleges have introduced Computer Courses to equip the younger generation with basic computer skills at Inter and B.Com levels. These Computer Courses are continually updated to provide students the best technological learning environment. and B.Com. are required to complete Basic Computer Courses, though they are not treated as compulsory subjects by the Board or University. Students’ attendances are monitored regularly. Each month, the attendance data is fed to the computer and analyzed from different angles. Parents are also informed about their wards' application and are warned against irregular attendance or unseemly behaviour. The College offers Merit Scholarship and free education for Academic Brilliance. All students who have passed Intermediate examination from any of our Colleges get a 25% concession in B.Com. and B.Sc. 50% concession will be given to the kinship cases. 25% concession will be given to the teachers' children. Teachers who are drawing their salaries from the government treasury will get 25% fee concession for their sons/daughters. The College grants a fee-concession for deserving students at the time of admission. This concession is renewable at the time of every fee installment. Students benefitting from this assistance, must get their concession forms duly signed by the Principal. Students are eligible for attendance awards and distinction certificates for their punctuality and outstanding performance in different disciplines. Students are encouraged to participate in sports and co- curricular activities. They can win different medals, shields and cash prizes. Quiz Competitions, Singing Competitions and Debating Contests are regular features of all the Punjab Colleges. All Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education, the Regional Directors of Education, and the University of the Punjab announce scholarships and awards for position holders. There are many more cash prizes for brilliant students in different competitions. For example, in sports competitions, the winning team in a sports event of the University will be awarded a cash prize. Similarly, in Board Competition events, a “Winning Team" from our College will get a cash prize. College Identity Card In order to impress upon the students the importance of discipline and to cultivate a sense of affinity, each student is issued a separate identity card and it is compulsory for a student to display it on his shirt at the chest during the college hours. Trouble-free environments; strict College discipline and liaison with the parents are some salient features of the Punjab Colleges. GENERAL AND DISCIPLINARY RULE
All Students must abide by the College Rules, Regulations, Policies and Guidelines as may be promulgated by the College Administration from time to time. Breach of these Rules, Regulations, Policies and Guidelines shall render them liable to disciplinary, administrative and legal action including but not limited to imposition of fine, suspension or expulsion (both provisional and permanent) from the College. No student is allowed to paste, exhibit, prepare or distribute any poster, leaflet, notice, pamphlet or handbill in the College premises without prior permission from the Principal. Any student aggrieved by any happening in the College shall lodge a complaint with the Principal and not with any outside authority unless the Principal permits him/her to do so. Use of mobile phones and cameras are strictly prohibited in the College premises and during College Functions. Mobiles and Cameras confiscated shall only be returned if disciplinary committee permits. Smoking in the College premises is strictly prohibited
Every student of the College is required to be punctual in the class. Any student remaining absent from classes without proper permission for a continuous period of 06 days, excluding holidays, shall automatically be struck off from the College Rolls unless the cause of absence is explained to the satisfaction of the Principal. In that case, the student may be re-admitted within 15 days (after his name is dropped from the College rolls) on payment of Re-admission Fee and College Dues. Students are forbidden to contact any higher authority directly. Intended communication with any higher authority must be submitted through the Principal who will forward it, if he considers it desirable. College authorities can revise the dues without any prior notice. This revision will be applicable to all students enrolled at that time or in future. No student is allowed to leave the class without the permission of his/her teacher or until the class is over. Late-comers in the class may be marked absent. Any student misbehaving in the classroom/College shall at once be reported to the Principal by the teacher. The Principal will take such action as he may deem proper. The teacher can recommend a penalty as well. Any political or immoral activity is strictly prohibited in or around the College premises. A fine of Rs. I0/- per lecture will be imposed for absence without proper leave. Private telephone calls of the students will not be entertained. However, an emergency message can be conveyed. Students must keep the College Identity Card during their stay in the College premises and during College functions. Students are required to wear the prescribed uniform while attending the College. The College authorities reserve the right to revise any class schedule or to re-arrange the classes. The College will not be responsible for loss of any mail/valuables sent to a student at the College address. The College is not responsible for any loss/damage regarding the students' belongings. The College students, while parking their bikes/motor cars, are required to put proper lock on them. College administration shall not be responsible for any loss on this account, whatsoever. The students who want to migrate from Punjab College to any other college can apply within ten days of taking their Board/University Examinations. After ten days, they will have to pay full fee for Clearance. Any false information on the Application Form may render the student liable to expulsion from the College. The College grants fee-concessions and scholarships of different nature at the time of admission. These concessions and scholarships are applicable only to the current installment and must be renewed when the next fee installment is due. Mere recommendation for a fee-concession and scholarship does not entitle a student to its grant. Certain conditions and requirements must be fulfilled for eligibility. Students can get benefits like Concessions, Scholarships in case of fulfilling the attendance requirements and observing the fee-schedule. However the request application for fee concession must be submitted within the time frame given by the College. Applications received after the lapse of that time period will not be entertained. Any fee concession/prize/scholarship is granted only at the discretion of the College Administration and can be withdrawn at anytime. The College reserves the right to make, amend and introduce any rule as and when deemed appropriate. If a student defaults in submission of College dues for a period of one month, his/her name will be struck off from the College Rolls. The College, in its sole discretion, shall have the right to take any disciplinary, administrative and legal action against a defaulting Student committing breach of any of the College Rules, Regulations, Policies or Guidelines. Such an action may include, but shall not be limited to, expulsion, suspension, withholding of Examination Admission Forms of the Board/University, release of the Examination Roll No. Slips or withholding the examination result card issued by the Board/University particularly due to any of the following:
Poor Attendance
Non-payment of College Dues
Poor overall Academic Record
Failure in the College Examinations
Misconduct
Any other reason not specifically mentioned herein. Notwithstanding anything contained in any College Rule, Regulation, Policy or Guideline, if a student's Examination Admission Form, Roll No. slip or Result Card is withheld by the College Administration the name of the affected student shall deemed to be provisionally struck off from the Rolls of the College with immediate effect, whether he has been given notice of this action or not. In such an eventuality it will be the student's duty to apply to the concerned College authorities for re-admission to the College. The College may in its sole discretion approve or disapprove such re-admission and may also impose such conditions and fines as it may deem necessary. The Students alone are responsible for submission of their College dues/fee and observance of the College Rules, Regulations, Policies and Guidelines promulgated by the College from time to time. The College or its Administration shall not be liable for any loss accruing to the students due to any such failure or non-observance. As regards the financial liability of a Student, the Parent/Guardian of the Student, signing the College Admission Form of the Student in such capacity, shall act as the surety of the Student and shall be jointly and severally liable to discharge any financial liability of the Student accruing under the College Rules, Regulations, Policies and Guidelines. If the College Administration pays any amount to any Authority, Board, Government Department etc. on behalf of any Student(s), all such amounts shall remain recoverable from such Student(s) as outstanding College Dues. Shifts and Sections once allotted to the students shall not be changed in any case. The provisions contained in the College Rules, Regulations, Policies and Guidelines, including but not limited to the General & Disciplinary Rules and Admission Rules, and the Declaration of the Student in the College Admission Form shall collectively form a contract between the College Administration and the Student and shall remain binding till a Student is on Rolls of the College. The College Administration shall have the right to amend, repeal and replace all or any of the College Rules, Regulations, Policies and Guidelines. Such amended or replaced provisions shall also remain binding till the Student remains on the Rolls of the College. The College shall be entitled to initiate legal proceedings, in addition to other disciplinary or administrative actions, against a Student who fails to comply with these binding provisions. ADMISSION PROCEDURE
Admission to Intermediate Part I starts after the declaration of the result of Secondary School (Spring) Examination by all the Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education. Admission to degree classes starts after the declaration of the results of Intermediate and D.Com. Annual Examinations. A candidate seeking admission is required to attach the following testimonials to his/her admission form which is appended at the end. Two attested copies of Matriculation Certificate and in case of O' Level candidates, Equivalence Certificate issued by the Interboard Committee of Chairmen, Ministry of Education, Islamabad. Two attested copies of Intermediate Certificate and in case of A' Level candidates, Equivalence Certificate issued by the Interboard Committee of Chairmen, Ministry of Education, Islamabad. Four latest ID card size photographs with sky-blue background. One attested copy of National Identity Card of Parent/Guardian or of the candidate himself. Original Migration Certificate from a student passing his/her Matriculation or Intermediate Examination from a Board/University outside the territorial jurisdiction of the concerned Board/ University. Admission is open to male/female students who fulfill the required terms and conditions. Admission will be granted on qualifying written/oral test or both. Copies of the certificates and photographs will not be returned if admission is refused. Admission is liable to be cancelled if the student fails to pay his/her dues within the prescribed time. Similarly, if a student fails to submit the required documents within the prescribed time, his/her admission shall be cancelled. Students as per rules are promoted to the next class just after the completion of Board/ University Examination. In this connection, they are required to get themselves enrolled for the next class by depositing the college dues as prescribed by the College Administration, immediately after the exams. Students desirous of appearing in the Supplementary Board/University Examinations are required to get the college dues clearance before the issuance of Roll No. Slips. Dues once deposited are not refundable/transferable in any case. Admission form must be filled in by the candidate in his/her own handwriting. The Applicant and his parent/guardian solemnly undertake and declare as under:
We have read and understood all provisions of the College Rules, Regulations, Policies and Guidelines particularly those contained in the Prospectus and this Admission Form and hereby undertake to abide by them as binding provisions of a contract between ourselves and the College Administration. The particulars given in the Admission Form are correct to the best of our knowledge and belief. If at any time, any of these particulars or attached documents are proven to be incorrect, bogus or forged, the College reserves the right to take any disciplinary, administrative or legal action against the Applicant. This application for admission to the College is being made with the express consent of the undersigning parent/guardian. If admitted, the Applicant shall observe and abide by all the Rules, Regulations, Policies and Guidelines as may be promulgated by the College Administration from time to time and in case of non-compliance shall be liable to such penalty as may be prescribed by the College Administration, including but not limited to rustication and expulsion. The Applicant shall devote himself/herself whole-heartedly to the studies and maintain the dignity and prestige of the College within and outside the College premises. The Applicant shall not leave the College without the written permission of the Principal and shall pay all the dues before leaving the institution. The Applicant and his/her parent/guardian specifically agree that they shall have no objection if due to any act or omission of the Applicant/Student, resulting in breach of the College Rules, Regulations, Policies or Guidelines, the College Administration takes disciplinary, administrative or legal action against the Applicant/Student, including but not limited to rustication, expulsion (both provisional and permanent), withholding of the Applicant's/Student's Examination Admission Form for the Board/University examinations, withholding of release of Board/University Examination Roll No. slip or non-issuance of the Examination Result Card/Transcript. The decision of the College Administration in this regard shall be final and binding. In case the College Administration is compelled to take legal action under this clause, the Applicant/Student/ Parent/Guardian shall also be liable to pay the legal costs sustained by the College.
