Dzisiaj usiadłem sam ze sobą i zacząłem liczyć od ilu lat udzielam się społecznie w różnych organizacjach i w ilu już pracowałem. Wyszło 20 lat i 7 organizacji, wszystkie związane z turystyką. I tak pracujemy już ponad pół roku. Trafiłem na świetny zespół :)

The WFTGA Training Division holds monthly meetings, and November's was particularly significant as final plans for the Cyprus course were solidified. Progress was also made on preparations for the Trainers Convention in Sabah 2025, among other key initiatives!

Guiding is about giving space and sharing.
11 November - Polish Independence Day. Among the many stories related to the country's complicated history, today I recalled this one. A bear named Wojtek. An official soldier in the Polish Army during the Second World War, who, together with General Anders' Army, walked the combat route from the Middle East, through North Africa to southern Europe. He drank beer, brought ci******es to the soldiers, and amidst the ruins carried ammunition to his comrades during the assault on Monte Cassino. He has many monuments around the world, and I photographed this one today in Jordan Park in Krakow.
Once, working with a group of American tourists, we sat over coffee and exchanged stories. One lady, a doctor by profession, started telling a story about a Polish soldier who was a bear. She told how the soldiers had bought him back from a boy in Iran, she talked about beer, ci******es, the organisation of the soldier's papers for him, the fighting at Monte Cassino and the touching meetings between Polish veterans and Wojtek at the zoo after the war. I knew the story but did not interrupt. When asked how she knew the story, she replied that one day an elderly man, her patient, walked into her office in the States. He asked if he could tell her something. He then told the story of the bear in the Polish Army in detail. He knew all this because he had fought together with Wojtek and the entire Anders Army at Monte Cassino. They were brothers in arms.
It is incredible what stories and experiences people carry with them. They need space to share it. Guiding is about giving space and sharing.

Ostatnio prowadzę takie wycieczki coraz częściej. Eko-trip. Jednodniowy wyjazd firmowy w góry, żeby w ramach pracy przysłużyć się światu. Zebraliśmy kilkadziesiąt worków śmieci i kilka worków grzybów :D
Okoliczności przyrody były wyjątkowe. Luboń Wielki poleca się jesienią :)

To już osiem lat w strukturach World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations. (WFTGA). Dzięki pracy w Training Committee (Komisji Szkoleniowej) jestem bliżej Federacji niż kiedykolwiek byłem. Bardzo mi z tym dobrze :)

Mateusz is a Lead International Trainer and seasoned tourist guide with a passion for storytelling. With a career rooted in the tourism industry, he specializes in soft skills like communication and public speaking. Notably, he was a finalist in the "Guide of the Year 2017" competition and became WFTGA's Lead International Trainer in 2022.

Meaning making. This is the whole philosophy of heritage interpretation as a method used by the guides. A photo from the workshop based on the exhibition "Socmodernism. Architecture in Central Europe during the Cold War" at the MCK in Krakow. It's good to work with experienced people and still in a space that begs for interpretive tools. Good to be a trainer of guides :)

Jedzenie w sztuce. Współczesny świat i jego problemy w pryzmacie instalacji artystycznych dotyczących jedzenia. Głód, marnotrastwo, transcendencja, erotyka itd. Jest tu o czym myśleć i o czym dyskutować.

Takie dni w pracy przewodnickiej lubię. Tą świetną przestrzeń do interpretacji znajdziecie na wystawie w MOCAK Muzeum Sztuki Współczesnej w Krakowie / Museum of Contemporary Art

Lubimy lodołamacze (icebrekery). Ożywiają grupę, dodają energii i odświeżają umysł. W szkoleniach pełnych trudnych treści pozwalają uczestnikom się zrelaksować i poprawiają koncentrację w dalszych modułach. Wprowadzają uśmiech i humor, co pozytywnie wpływa na proces zapamiętywania. Lodołamacze pomagają budować relacje między uczestnikami grupy.
Nie lubimy lodołamaczy. Zabierają dużo czasu i dezorganizują szkolenie. Użyte w nieodpowiednim momencie mogą rozpraszać uczestników. Czasami narażają uczestników na śmieszność i mogą generować konflikty. Nie wnoszą wiele do procesu rozwoju i tematu szkolenia, więc nie wspierają celów szkolenia.
Czy używasz lodołamaczy w swoich szkoleniach? Czy kiedykolwiek miałeś podobne dylematy? Czy kiedykolwiek używałeś lodołamaczy nie tylko jako zabawy, ale także jako ćwiczenia szkoleniowego?

What I really value about my work in international organisations is the network of wonderful and inspiring people. I believe that the flow of knowledge and experience between professionals from different countries is crucial for our professional and personal development. I am glad that the modern world provides us with such opportunities.
The more positive memories I share with a person, the greater the joy of an unexpected encounter on the trail.
Manuela Hrvatin , what a surprise it was to meet you on the cobblestones of Krakow! Your hospitality during our Interpret Europe summer school of trainers in Croatia three months ago was unforgettable!

Praca samemu czy w duecie?
Lepiej samemu, bo:
- masz swoje przyzwyczajenia i wszystko idzie automatycznie
- krócej się do pracy przygotowujesz i nie tracisz czasu na zgrywanie się z partnerem
- nie boisz się, że ktoś coś zrobi, co jest nie po Twojej myśli

Lepiej w duecie, bo:
- jest lepsza dynamika w komunikacji między prowadzącymi i grupą
- dla odbiorcy jest bardziej różnorodnie
- możesz inspirować się warsztatem drugiej osoby oraz uzyskać natychmiastową pomoc, kiedy potrzebujesz

Im dłużej pracuję z grupami (na sali szkoleniowej czy na mieście z turystami) tym bliżej mi jest do tego drugiego modelu. Szukam możliwości pracy zespole, kiedy tylko jest taka okazja. Ciekawe jak mają inni?

Nie pracowałem (z małymi przerwami) od prawie miesiąca. Akurat na rozruch zdarzyła się praca w duecie. Dziękuję Joanna Widlarz i Krakow Urban Tours ! Grupa 24 sympatycznych Słowaków ogarnięta :D
