Any fans of the British royal family here?

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip visited Krakow in March 1996. There is a great story associated with their visit, in which Prince Philip was, of course, involved.

The Duke of Edinburgh has always been known for his sharp wit, charm, and adventurous spirit, which he brought to Poland. On the third day of their visit, the royal couple visited Krakow. During a walk in the Jewish district of Kazimierz with Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski and his wife Jolanta, Queen Elizabeth discovered that her husband had disappeared.

'Where is Philip? she asked. It turned out that the prince had decided to deviate from the official protocol and, instead of walking and talking with the officials, had decided to pop into the nearest pub, sample some Polish alcohol, and chat with the locals.

This story may not sound very believable, but it's true, and if you've read Prince Philip's biography, you'll admit that it's 100% true to his character.

Stay tuned for more interesting things and stories about Krakow!

It's Christmas market time!

The first weekend of the Krakow Christmas Market is behind us!

Although we are still waiting for snow, you can still experience the joy and magic of Polish Christmas in the heart of our city! Nobody will go hungry at the Christmas Market, where you can find lots of delicious Polish food. And of course, a glass of mulled wine (the drinking age in Poland is 18!) will warm your heart, body and soul. It's also a great place to buy traditional baubles for the Christmas tree and lots of beautiful decorations made by local artisans.

Come to Krakow and soak up the atmosphere of Polish Christmas!

Happy Independence Day!

Crowds of locals gathered in the Main Market Square at noon today to sing the Polish national anthem (Mazurek Dąbrowskiego), played by two trumpeters from the tower of St Mary's Church in Krakow's Main Market Square on the occasion of Poland's Independence Day.

White and red - the national colours of Poland - dominated the city today.

Join the people of Krakow and celebrate Independence Day with us!

Let us introduce you to the only Jewish Ashkenazi food tour in Krakow!

The taste of European Jewish cuisine is absolutely unique and spectacular, unlike anything you have ever tasted in your life! During our tour you will have the opportunity to taste and compare both modern Ashkenazi and Israeli cuisine. Through food you will understand the history and heritage of the Jews – why Israeli cuisine is so different from European Jews, who invented the Ashkenazi kosher rules and why the roots of Ashkenazi cuisine can be found in Krakow. The guide will introduce us to several local restaurants and cafes so that we can enjoy excellent food in a small group and learn about Ashkenazi Jewish traditions or customs related to the preparation and consumption of the dishes we sample.

This food walk includes a selection of Israeli mezze, a full Ashkenazi Jewish lunch consisting of starters and a second course, a unique Polish Jewish dessert and a traditional Jewish vodka. There is definitely no need to eat before the tour, let alone afterwards.

Join us for a 3 hour culinary walk with an experienced local guide!

The golden autumn is a magical time in Poland. If you want to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the beauty of nature, Dolina Będkowska (Będkowska Valley) is the perfect destination for a half-day trip! It is located just 30 km from Krakow in the Polish Jurassic Highlands, where you can find Jurassic limestone rocks, cliffs, valleys, and vast limestone formations with around 220 caves. Będkowska Valley is only a fraction of the Highland, but it is one of the most charming parts of it, full of valleys, small waterfalls, and caves. The rocks of Będkowska Valley are also popular with mountaineers, who use them to train before climbing higher mountains.

In the valley is the legendary Brandysówka, a tourist shelter run by the same family since the pre-war period, where you can stay and eat in a charming restaurant offering a wide range of hot drinks and traditional Polish cuisine.

If you would like to discover the Będkowska Valley and other hidden treasures around Krakow, do not hesitate to contact us! We will be more than happy to organize a tailor-made tour for you!

For Poles, vodka is not just alcohol - it is part of our culture. This type of alcohol has been mass-produced in Poland since the 17th century and is one of our most popular export products. Thanks to the fact that vodka has a long history in Poland, we have many customs and traditions related to the ritual of drinking vodka that have survived to this day.

Nowadays, most Poles drink vodka on special occasions such as birthdays or weddings, preserving all the customs and traditions. Thanks to centuries of experience, Poles know how to drink vodka properly - and when you drink vodka, you always need food!

Join our food tour and learn about the Polish vodka drinking tradition, discover great starters and find out about the importance of alcohol in Polish culture and how it influences the current situation in Poland!

Where there are two Poles, there are three opinions"—while this saying is true, there is one thing that all Poles have in common: pierogi.

Pierogi probably came to Poland from China via Ruthenia (now Ukrainian territory) and are considered a Polish national delicacy. Their importance is such that they are served on the most important evening of the year for many Poles - Christmas Eve dinner.

The most traditional dumplings are ruskie, filled with cottage cheese and potatoes. Meat, cabbage and mushroom dumplings are also popular, as are fruit dumplings. Interestingly, traditional pierogi dough is vegan, so it is easy to find a vegan version of this traditional dish.

The second picture shows Christmas dumplings made by Aleksandra, one of our guides :) Luckily, you don't have to make pierogi yourself, you can join our food tour to try pierogi and get to know Poland!

Don't hesitate and join our food tours!

Krakow's Plac Nowy is now known for zapiekanka, Poland's most famous fast food, but before the war it was the commercial centre of the Jewish quarter of Kazimierz.

The tradition of the market in Plac Nowy is still alive and well and every Sunday there is a flea market that is very popular with the locals. You can find everything from clothes to perfumes and jewellery. And if you get hungry, you can order a casserole between the stalls, which deserves its own post :)

Come to Krakow and soak up the atmosphere of the Jewish market!
