Last week we wrapped up an amazing two-day fam trip in Kraków for participants of the Meet The Bidder fair. ✨

After starting in Warsaw, the group headed to our beautiful UNESCO World Heritage City 🌍 to experience its charm and discover why it’s the perfect place for international conferences and events.

The trip included a visit to the modern ICE Kraków Congress Centre 🏢, a stop at the unique Stara Zajezdnia Kraków by DeSilva in Kazimierz (with a local beer tasting! 🍻), and a walking tour through Kraków’s iconic Royal Route. Along the way, participants visited landmarks like Zamek Królewski na Wawelu Castle, Main Market Square, and the Czartoryski Museum, home to Leonardo da Vinci’s famous "Lady with an Ermine".
We also explored top venues like Hyatt Place Krakow and enjoyed a delicious dinner 🍽️ at Trattoria Gusti in the Wyndham Grand Krakow.

This trip was all about showcasing Kraków’s perfect mix of history, culture, and modern conference infrastructure—and it didn’t disappoint!

🌍 We were thrilled to join the 18th UIA Associations Round Table Europe as part of the ! 🎉

The Union of International Associations has been supporting and documenting the work of international associations since 1907- over 115 years of making an impact! This year’s theme, “It’s up to us”, was all about taking collective responsibility. It brought together experts and peers to share challenges, exchange ideas, and dive into meaningful discussions. 💡

One of the key highlights was reflecting on the UN Summit of the Future, which outlined 56 actions to accelerate SDG progress. Topics ranged from peace and security to climate action, digital cooperation, human rights, and gender equality, with associations actively contributing to these global goals.

We also heard from inspiring speakers like Stefano Berretti and Diye Ndiaye who explored topics such as “Storytelling of AI - The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly” and “Associations Striving for Equal Opportunities”. Tobia Salvadori of Convention Bureau Italia impressed everyone with creative event ideas, including a Botticelli-inspired opening ceremony. Along with Sara Lucatello and Michele Pacifici, they shared strategies for engaging scientists in hosting meaningful events, while a team from Florence showcased their collaborative work on conferences like the “Low Vision Congress.”

Sustainability was a big focus, too! 🌱 Delegates joined forces to plant 300 trees with , and we’re excited to watch our coffee and cocoa trees in Colombia grow. 🌴

On top of all that, the event was a great chance to network with international associations and promote Kraków as a future host city. As one of UIA’s top-ranked cities in Poland, Kraków offers the perfect setting for important conversations like these.

A big thank you 🙏 to Aneta Ksiazek and Poland Convention Bureau POT, the only Polish member of the UIA, for the invitation and collaboration. 💙

If you’ve been to Poland, you’ve probably heard of pierogi, red borscht, bigos, and żurek. But if you're coming to Kraków, get ready to discover some of our best local bites that you can grab on the go while exploring the city!

🥨 Our hometown favorite? „Obwarzanek”! It's a round pretzel that’s way heartier than a bagel, with a nice, crispy crust. You’ll see it everywhere – topped with poppy seeds, salt, spices, or even cheese. A true Kraków must-try!

🌭 Late-night snack alert! Head to „Niebieska Nyska” ("Blue Nyska") for some legendary sausages, served out of the same vintage van for years. It’s a Kraków tradition and totally worth the hype.

🍔Then there’s Kazimierz, the old Jewish quarter – street food heaven! Try „zapiekanki” (toasty baguettes topped with cheese and all kinds of extras) or go big with „maczanka krakowska”, a bun stuffed with pulled pork, mustard, and pickles. Perfect fuel for a night out in this buzzing neighborhood.

🍏 Don’t miss Stary Kleparz, our historic market with super fresh, local produce. This place has been around since the Middle Ages! Be sure to grab an „oscypek”, a smoky mountain cheese made by local highlanders. Sustainable shopping? We’ve been doing it before it was cool! 😎
