Dear Vodka lovers,

Being so close to Ukraine over the years we here at TasteVodka have made many firm Ukrainian friends. On our tours you would have heard about the intertwined histories of Poland and Ukraine as the territories and borders shifted down the years, at times of great tragic turmoil when a maniacal bully decides to make life hell for as many people as they can. It’s possible you heard a toast in Ukrainian depending on who was guiding your tour. I say Budmo you say Hey.

As a past or future guest you’re probably a little more removed from what’s happening over there. I know all too well from seeing war after war on the news in some far off land that the headlines and coverage can leave you feeling oddly divorced emotionally from something so ugly. “Numbers of casualties”, “aid being supplied”, “sanctions”, “intervention”. It’s very easy to forget that mothers and children are being separated at the border from their husbands, fathers and brothers, sent to seek shelter wherever they can while the men go back to fight and risk their lives. Thousands of lives on both sides have been lost without even a chance yet to mourn. The needless loss and suffering is unbearable to think about. Ukraine is crying out for help and let’s be honest we’re afraid to give them the support that they really need hoping they can sort it out themselves if we just send them weapons.

We’re proud of the effort that Poland has brought to help our Ukrainian brothers and sisters out. We will do our best to offer whatever help we can as a business and as individuals. Hopefully soon again we can cross the border of a safe and Independent Ukraine, raise a glass of their incredible flavoured vodkas and toast with them to their fallen heroes who stood up and showed the world that Ukrainians don’t take s**t from anybody.
