In Mazury there are more and more very nice bicycle trails and separate roads for cyclists. Beautiful, safe and with nice rest areas and sights along the way. We -the Dutch bicycle-lovers that we are- think that’s a very cool progress and the perfect way to explore The Land of a Thousand Lakes…

The Eastern Bicycle Route is the longest and one of the most beautifully located bicycle routes in Poland. The Warmia and Masuria section of the trail is 397 km long and can be fully covered by pedaling from town to town, admiring and visiting some picturesque cultural areas. Along the way there are Bicycle Service Places, equipped with stands, benches and tables, information boards, toilets and Cyclist-Friendly Places where you can eat and rest before your further journey on two wheels.

You can rent bicycles at various places around your home-away-from-home in Kosewo, for example at Rowery Mragowo or via Rowery Electryczne Mragowo (electrical bikes).

‘Kayak more, worry less...’ The clear waters, being physically active in (mostly) calm floating water combined with the scenic stops along the way, a dive – frogs, birds, fish 🐸🦉🐟 For us, a kayak trip should definitely be part of summerholiday in Mazury. Really outdoor paradise at its best. Tips for routes, todo’s or other rental companies are always welcome :) (We did our last few ‘kayaki’ trips via AS-Tours, quite content with them).

With a lake on your doorstep, there's no need to get bored in any season. We were already with our heads in spring to be honest... but now winter seems to be coming back for an encore. Be welcome winter, we got our ice-skates and sled ready for take-off. (life jacket and goggles have to wait just a little longer)

Na zdrowie – to a wonderful weekend! And what better drink to start the weekend than a simple, but oh-so-fine Szarlotka. We like to drink it traditionally; one part of Polish Żubrówka wódka, two parts of organic apple-juice and some apple slices for the extra vitamins ;-) Because each bottle of Żubrówka contains a blade of bison grass, the drink has a soft green hue and a fresh and spicy character. The apple juice combined with earthy vodka creates a striking taste that is loved by many, like us. Definitely worth a try!

Mazury has no high mountains and kilometers of slopes like the south of Poland has, but several ski resorts can be found in 'our' hilly region. For example: a fifteen minute drive from Wild Woods Getaway to Mragowo gets you to 'Góra Czterech Wiatrów' with five slopes with a total length of 2000 meters. It is located on a peninsula by the Czos lake and slopes are partially in the forest. And within twenty minutes you can be on the slopes of Hotel GolebiewSKI, where much more fun-activites are found - such as a Tobbogan run.

A beautiful day to share some snapshots of our dear/deer neighbours. 'The Research Station of the Institute of Parasitology of the Polish Academy of Sciences' (yes, quite a mouthful) is a research facility located in Kosewo Górne - on the opposite side of the street. Definitely worth a visit if you're staying at Wildwoods Getaway. You can meet the vast herds of fallow deer, red deer and sika deer grazing on the picturesque pastures (The farm area extends over 700 ha) surrounded by the Pisz Forest and Kuc Lake, one of the cleanest lakes in Poland. www.wildwoodsgetaway.com / https://kosewopan.pl/en/home-en

We’re always on hand to make any stay with your Best Friend as memorable as possible. So if you can't bear to part with your favourite furry friend...bring them please. (Was it already clear that it is very nice to walk in the area AND that the garden with your getaway is completely fenced?)

When looking for the perfect (holiday)gift, world's most beautiful pottery might be a good idea? The classic, organic shapes of the Bolesławiec or Bunzlau pottery are executed in cobalt blue, sometimes with some green and red paint that enhances the natural cream white of the local clay.

The recognizable table-ware is produced in a small, medieval town in southwestern Poland, but can also be found at various markets in the vicinity of our holiday home. We looove to go to the market in Krutyn, but maybe we have Masuria-connoisseurs in our insta-network who know where to find more shops/markets nearby to supplement our tableware? Because this crockery is never complete ;-)

'De donkerste nachten produceren de helderste sterren' - Hier in Kosewo kun je duizenden sterren met het blote oog zien op wolken- en maanloze nachten.

Door het ontbreken van kunstlicht uit grote steden is het pikdonker. En -terwijl een derde van de wereldbevolking de Melkweg niet meer kan zien vanwege 'lichtvervuiling'- is die prachtige snelweg tussen de sterren hier in al zijn glorie te zien.

Autumn has definitely arrived in Mazury - the perfect time to stroll in the woods in search of the tastiest wild mushrooms. Nomnomnom. By the way: We were taught that you can eat all mushrooms, but some only once....so please make sure to go 'mushroom-hunting' with (someone with) knowledge.

De herfst is definitief aangebroken in Mazurieë - de perfecte tijd om door het bos te wandelen op zoek naar de lekkerste wilde paddenstoelen. Trouwens: Wij hebben geleerd dat je álle paddenstoelen kunt eten, maar sommige maar één keer...☠️ dus ga alsjeblieft op 'paddenstoelenjacht' met (iemand met) kennis.

*sound on* Yep, this is how I prefer my coffee in the morning. With frogs, crickets and the cuckoo. In complete peace and privacy, while overlooking a Masurian lake served with the most beautiful sunrises. Dzień dobry ☀️

Yep, zo drink ik mijn koffie in de ochtend toch het liefst. Met kikkers, krekels en de koekoek. In alle rust én met uitzicht op een Mazurisch meer - geserveerd met zo'n zonsopkomst ☀️
