Hurricane Dorian has delivered a devastating blow to two of our major islands – Grand Bahama and Abaco. We are extremely saddened by the loss of life, homes destroyed and landscape damaged. The spirit and resolve of our people remains strong, and we will continue to help everyone impacted.

Kona’s sister Hula, went to meet her at the rainbow bridge last week. It’s been a rough time for the Casa de Kona family. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. We really thought she was indestructible. And so did she. Glad she didn’t have to suffer long.

So happy for my discovery of this first batch of GREEN bananas at Casa de Kona since Maria on 9/20/17. Happy Saint Patrick’s Day to all!! Now we need to see the mango, papaya, pana, lime,and avocado bear fruit! Life is returning to normal

This little special needs boy needs a forever home. He was found on the road to happiness about a month ago weighing ~ one pound, probably having been struck by a car. He has lost an eye, and walks as if he has had a spinal cord injury. BUT HE IS WALKING, something he wasn't able to do a few weeks ago! Please share this
post. His foster mama is in love with him, but she is allergic. 😓. She calls him Choppy ❤We can transport him to Boston if someone up north can take him. He is extremely shy, but SO loveable. Would probably do best in a quiet home.

SAN JUAN – The Puerto Rico Tourism Co. (PRTC) issued a release Tuesday announcing that the island “is open for tourism.” The public corporation responsible for promoting the industry said that among the milestones reached ahead of the high season, more than 100 hotels were now open.

I'll say it again...

What more could you ask for... sunshine, nice waves, warm water and no crowds. It was a great day to be at the beach in Rincon - What are you waiting for?
A great idea for those that are wanting to help PR get back on their feet again, come visit us...
Eat at our restaurants, take a surf lesson - even if you already know how, stay at one of the many fine hotels or B&B's that are up and running. Do some shopping at the Artwalk, buy fresh fruits and produce, etc. Rincon's economy thrives on tourist coming and enjoying all that we have to offer. If you get here soon enough you might still see some of the carnage that Maria left us with, but a little more of that stuff is gone everyday. It is still sunny, warm and the water is clear and warm as well.
You want to help Rincon and PR recover? Then come on down and enjoy!

We are so grateful that our house was spared, but in order to even begin to grasp the concept of the impact of Maria on Puerto Rico, consider this...we are located on the western side "the good side" of Maria's path. It looks like a nuclear bomb went off here (check out previous pictures on this page). PLEASE consider donating to help PR get back on it's feet. Locals helping locals are Rincon Beer Company RBC Maria Relief and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't forget this place as an unbelievable vacation destination. It is going to green up again quick, bringing your green ($$$) will help PR rebuild. Help out our fellow American citizens and donate or visit as soon as is possible. Gracias.

I am still seeking donations to help our friends and neighbors (and fellow US citizens!) in Western PR. I have boxes of supplies that I am filling and will be mailing by early next week. Please consider a donation of canned goods or cash so I can continue to fill. I will spend additional funds on personal rechargeable fans, and water filtration systems as that is what I am hearing about requests for.
Please remember that even as the resources return, these people will have been without employment. Their ability to continue to withdraw cash from their accounts is going to dwindle. Please don't forget about them as the media coverage dies down. Their recovery is a marathon, not a sprint. Please consider donating. And if not, please consider a puerto rican vacation as soon as possible to help stimulate the economy of the incredible people of PR. Thank you for considering. Yo Amo PR

If you want to help Rincon, consider donating here! I've been feeling helpless because the care packages I have made can't be sent, post offices not open. This is a way to get $$ to people who can provide meals to many!

I finally heard via Satellite phone from my My Sister and Brother in law who own Shipwreck Bar & Grill in Rincon Puerto Rico, that they are in dire need to help those around them who have lost everything and feeding the community, they've opened their restaurant kitchen and have been blowing out...

Praying para mi isla Del encanta once again. Puerto Rican's have been offering support and supplies to their neighbors in the US and BVI since Irma's devastating pass. They are now looking at a potentially catastrophic hurricane impacting them. Supplies locally are low according to my friends and neighbors. Please pray that Puerto Rico will be spared a direct hit from Maria. Keeping you all in our hearts💕

For anyone looking at our location based on google maps, casa de kona is not where it looks like, because the house does not have a street address, which is very common on the island. If you google Rincon, zoom in to the northwest area (Puntas) and locate Calle Miramar. We are located 1/2way down next to Casa Mango. Google maps has us located in Aguada, which is not correct. We are located up the street from Sandy Beach. Puntas. Rincon.
