Exploring Mona Island 🏝️

Mona Island is the true treasure of the Caribbean. It is part of the archipelago of Puerto Rico and is one of the most important forest reserves in the Caribbean. It is located approximately 46 miles west of the island of Puerto Rico and is about 7 miles long by 4 miles wide, with an area of approximately 13,638 hectares (twice the size of Culebra).

Have you been to Mona? What do you want to know more about Mona?

It is known as Amoná in honor of the cacique who once ruled the destinies of the island before colonization. It is currently a reserve of the Department of Natural Resources and the refuge of many species that you will only find on the island.

Only 1% of the residents of Puerto Rico have visited this resource, possibly because of its difficult access, the permits that must be requested to explore it or simply the lack of knowledge.

A must visit place in Puerto Rico.

Charco Azul in Patillas is a place to come and enjoy with friends and family. The trail to the Natural Pond is a basic one and really beautiful to see a piece of what the is Carite Forest. Once you arrive at the Charca, you have ample space to enjoy this beautiful place. And the best thing is that once you leave, you go through the best place where they prepare pork in Puerto Rico, Guavate.
