Hello Facebookers,
My name is Darek. It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Casa Marbella page. Casa Marbella is on the serene island of Culebra, just off of the east coast of the main island of Puerto Rico. Located above Zoni Beach on the eastern coast of the island, Casa Marbella is the perfect place for you and yours to share in what I like to call “The Culebra Experience.” We hope th
at this page will help you get acquainted with our home and will help serve as a source of information about Culebra, its beautiful beaches and its fun and friendly restaurants. You can also connect with previous guests as well as much more! What makes Casa Marbella so perfect? First off, the location is perfect. My wife, Bozena, and I have travelled the world and Casa Marbella matches up with the most beautiful places on Earth. Located only a short 10 minute walk (or 2 minute drive, with plentiful parking!) from the beautiful Playa Zoni, Casa Marbella is a stone’s (or shell’s) throw away, which is perfect for my autistic son, Max, who absolutely loves the warm water, the gentle waves, and the luxurious white sand beach. He and I are sure that you will too! Second, because the Casa is situated on one of the higher bluffs of the island, it is exposed to the warm and gentle Eastern Trade Winds which provide some important benefits. Most importantly, Casa Marbella is virtually mosquito free! Biting insects such as mosquitos and No-See-Ums can be quite a nuisance in and around houses with lower wind exposure. Thankfully, the Trade Winds keep these flying nuisances out, all while providing a cooling balsam after a sunny day at the beach. Also, the near-constant breeze makes even the hottest island days pleasurable. My wife and I reside in Green Bay, Wisconsin, so the perfect weather is an excellent change of pace! While everybody else is sweating, you can be on Casa Marbella’s ocean-view main deck, where you can sip on a cool beverage while enjoying stunning views of St. Thomas, BVI, Culebrita, and Cayo Norte, along with the ships passing through the channel. And let’s not forget the breath-taking twilight scenes and sunrises! In fact, the deck is so nice that, according to rumor, while Casa Marbella is vacant, we have our neighbors come up in the evening for the view and the breeze, watching cruisers passing by, the moon rise, and the hypnotic light of the Culebrita lighthouse. We hope that you can experience this unforgettable experience for yourself. Luckily, getting to our beautiful island is simple! To get to Culebra you have two options. One: you can fly in a small 7-9 person commuter plane from either San Juan International Airport or from Isla Grande Airport in San Juan. The short flight is not only quick and convenient, it is also exciting! Two: you can take a ferry from Fajardo. Not only is the ferry very economical at less than $5 a trip per person, it is also very scenic, with stunning views of the sunset. You might even see a dolphin…what a deal! No matter what mode of transportation you choose, getting to the island is quick, easy and fun! Once you get to Culebra, you can choose to be picked up by a member of our housekeeping team and brought directly to Casa Marbella. However, in order to have the freedom to experience our beautiful island in its entirety, we recommend that you rent a car (or a golf cart, which is a very popular mode of transportation on the island and provides for a very unique experience). As an alternative, you may also call for a cab anytime you want to travel on the island. Culebra is a small island. It has a small airport, small grocery stores and small gas stations. It does not have crowded beaches and restaurants where you have to make reservations days ahead. It lacks traffic jams and a big city feel and is instead the epitome of peace, serenity, and a get-away experience. Do not be surprised if you are the only person on any one of Culebra’s world-class beaches: Playa Zoni, Playa Carlos Rosario, Playa Brava, and, most famously, Playa Flamenco. Also, don’t be surprised when you experience world-class food! Take your own wine, beer, or rum to Krusty Crab for fantastic fish and a view. Slide into Zaco Tacos for some excellent Mexican food (I recommend the pork belly tacos). And for a waterfront dining experience try the Dinghy Dock. Watch tarpons swim by and don’t forget to order a mojito! Alternatively, if you feel like being your own chef, the modern kitchen at Casa Marbella (including a gas grill), along with plentiful and affordable grocery stores on the island will allow you to prepare your own delicious meals. Our house is comfortable and has all the modern day amenities. It is located on a spacious one acre lot. The large lot offers plenty of privacy. The property consists of three structures. The principal contains a large kitchen, spacious living room with a dining table, sofa, loveseat, chairs, tv, etc. and the bathroom. The second building contains the master bedroom with a queen size bed and the master bath with a walk-in shower. This bedroom has a gorgeous view towards the east. Finally, the third building has two bedrooms, one with a double bed and another one with two twin beds, and a spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower. All structures are connected with recently refinished wooden walkways. Marbella is a never-ending project. Just as any other house, it requires constant maintenance and improvements. We just finished staining all the wood decks. We reupholstered all the chairs. We have a brand new HD TV with satellite programming on a brand new TV stand. If you want to stay wired we have free Wi-Fi Internet connection in and around the house. There has been substantially more vegetation added to the landscape including banana trees, guava, mango, avocado, palms of different varieties, orchids, and many other plants. We just added an irrigation system to keep our plants healthy and well hydrated. In order to continue making improvements on the property, we need your help. Please come and visit, stay in our house and come back next year. For a price lower than many motels enjoy fantastic location, space, privacy, and unforgettable views.
