Today is Produce truck Tuesday so today I got island eggs, bananas and more including fresh baked items ! One of my favorite things is Ms Maria’s flat bread and cookies! So this is what was for lunch on the porch!

We do not have “ Fast food Francises” but we do have food stands / trucks that are small local businesses of yum’.

In Tuesday (and Fridays in high season) the Produce Truck ala Placita Reyes brings fruits and veggies from the main island. Some from local sources and some from wholesale ! On 201 about a block up from 200…

If you come here and do not see beauty all around …… cannot feel the hospitality of the Puerto Ricans and all you see is “garbage” I hope whatever trauma happened to you as a child heals…

‼️‼️‼️ Let’s talk about getting to/from Vieques y Culebra! ‼️‼️‼️

There are 4 main ways to get to the eastern islands. 🛥️🛩️

1.) Puerto Rico Ferry out of Ceiba.
- Only 20% of the boat is sold online. If tickets show sold out online, they are available at the window until fully sold out.
- Afternoon sailings are the busiest for Vieques and morning ferries are busiest for Culebra (lots of day trippers).
- There is a small cafeteria at the terminal, but we recommend stopping for snacks as it does close early.
- PLAN ACCORDINGLY REGARDING TIME! Allow for at the very least an hour flight delay, an 1.5 hour drive, and technically an hour before departure of ferry. We get at least 2 phone calls a week during season that they missed the ferry (mainly due to flight delays). They all have made it on a later ferry.
- Please do not buy two different times for “just in case.” They do not open up spots for unused sold tickets to anyone.
- If your month is shaded out, the tickets are not available yet. We do not know when tickets will drop for that month. There has been no rhyme or reason regarding their release dates. It has been between 2 weeks before the month and as close to 2 days. Unfortunately, you gotta keep checking (we contact our guests). They do announce when tickets are posted on their Facebook/Instagram page Puerto Rico Ferry.
- You can book advanced reservations with a publico/taxi before you arrive to meet you or you can go to the taxi podium outside of SJU to get a taxi that will take you. Your host on Vieques/Culebra may have recommendations and hopefully others who provide transportation will comment on this post (we do have recommendations, but I don’t want to leave anyone out).
- www.puertoricoferry.com is the website or use their app “City Experiences. (Apple Store link: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/city-experiences/id1449281320) Again only 20% are sold online and we don’t know when a month will be released.
- Yes, you can take the cargo/passenger ferry. You can not take the cargo only ferry.
- Rental vehicles are not allowed on the ferry. There is parking at the terminal for $15/day and a shuttle that takes you from the parking lot to the ferry terminal.
- They will announce any delays or closures of routes with a push notification from their app and on their Facebook/Instagram pages.
- The ferry has not been as bad as it used to be. We have not had a guest not make it over. Yes, a few have been pushed back to later times, but that was due to a later arrival time b/c of delayed flights, not anything to do with the actual ferry.

2.) Flight out of SJU (SJU)
- Mainly Cape Air, but you can charter a private flight.
- Most expensive, least hassle.
- You can book this leg with *some* of the major carriers. The major carrier would be responsible for rebooking your Cape Air flight if you had delays getting to SJU and you missed your Cape Air flight.
- Can book direct with Cape Air if you decide to come to the island after a few days on Isla Grande.

3.) Flight out of Isla Grande Airport (SIG)
- About a 20 minute taxi/publico/Uber from SJU (around ~$20) and a ~25 minute flight.
-Flights are around $85pp Vieques.
- Flights are around $96pp Culebra.
- Air Flamenco & Flamenco Cargo only services Culebra unless you book a private charter.
- VAL Vieques Air Link services both islands.
- Don’t see flight times that work for you? You can charter many flights from this airport and it doesn’t have to be with Air Flamenco or VAL (the picture I post has charter companies on it)

4.) Flight out of Ceiba Airport - José Aponte de la Torre Airport (RVR)
- Cheapest flight of them all, but do consider transportation costs from SJU to the airport ($80-$100).
- About an hour 10 minute-ish ride (all depends on traffic 🎱) from SJU to the Ceiba airport.
- Flight to Vieques is about 10 minutes and 15 to Culebra.
- Same carrier information as SIG airport. Vieques AirLink or Air Flamenco (only services Culebra unless a private charter). Plus your options of private charters (listed in photo).
- Vieques around ~$45pp
- Culebra around ~$49pp

www.flyairflamenco.com is the website for Air Flamenco. (Currently the link if searched in Google doesn’t start with the www on it so it’s sending to a random weird site)

Just an FYI!
- There is no ferry service between Vieques and Culebra.
•••• Yes, you would have to ferry back to Ceiba to get to the other island.
•••• The last Sunday of the month is no longer a service that is being provided.
- Vieques Airlink has scheduled flights on their website between Vieques/Culebra on weekends only.
- You can charter a flight, during the week, with any airline to go between Vieques and Culebra. It’s an awesome flight!

How amazing is this? Unspoiled beauty and nature. On Vieques you will not find beach service, kiosks or buildings on the sand because most of our beaches are protected… This is also why you do not park or drive on the beach… there can be precious life below the surface waiting to join us!
