For the first time since we opened, QBV closed for Christmas and spent precious time with family and friends in the UK. All great apart from being stuck at the airport for 5 hrs due to fog, and this is how we made use of our time....coming up with a wee poem to wish all our QBV friends and family a 'New Year message'😘

We Ho! Ho! hope your Christmas was a cracker?
We went to the UK where the skies are blacker

And even though we were delayed by fog

And missed being nuzzled awake by a dog

We had a lovely time with friends and family

and we put YOU treasured guest, in that same category



We are not so good at keeping in touch

But your stays with us have meant so much

the worlds your oyster and not that small

But we feel Portugal almost has it all

So as 24 turns to 25

We want to say HI, we are still alive:)



We might be greyer and our limbs creak more

but greeting QBV guests we still adore

Scrabble and Bingo are more geriatric

But continue to welcome with a wag and a lick

The garden explodes with flowers and fruit

And this year the cork trees even provided some loot



Bookings for this year are already great

So please don't leave it far too late

We know to plan early is sometimes hard

But remember the fun times in our wee courtyard

It's easier to cancel than to miss the chance

Reserve your dates, email well in advance



Regardless of whether we figure in your plans

And you choose elsewhere to top up your tans,

We wanted to wish you and your nearest and dearest

Happiness and health, with skies that are clearest

So carpe diem to our ex guest fam😍

It's another incredibly warm November day at Quinta do Bom Vento, but perhaps it is the heat from our blushing red cheeks. We love our guests😍

Gosh, thank you for all the gushing comments! I am blushing!
This was my Olympic project ie I didn't want to be a couch potato when I was glued to the Olympics so didn't feel quite so bad if I was binging sport and working on this. Only now got around to taking a photo and have to say it looks MUCH better here! So hope all you lovely commentators get to come see it in person.😘

We have around 5 acres of land at QBV and a couple of hundred cork trees. We finally had the bark harvested last week and they look fabulous. It's healthy for the tree and means we are contributing to the Portuguese cork production. But next time you open that bottle, spare some time to ponder that if it is a full grade cork (ie not mixed with composite) it will be at the VERY least 27 years old ! ie the trees tend to be harvested every 9 to 10 years and it is not until the 3rd time that the quality is sufficient.
Here's hoping we are around to witness the next harvest!🥹🍷

Banister boy has been at it again and this time Rich deserves a gold medal for his latest creation😍

The swing seat is the perfect spot to relax in and the shade made from bamboo canes from our valley, is as welcome as the custom designed beer bottle holes and slots for wine glasses🤪🍷😎

We like to think of ourselves as a very pet friendly accommodation, but prefer that the 4 legged guests don't spend as much time on the couch as the 2 legged ones. However Eugene is the first dog to make it in the hammock (that we know about it!🤣)

Such a clever and cute doggy and lovely to know that he was adopted from a shelter too🥰 Well done to his Daddy (also clever and cute🤪)

Eugene, (An Australian Sheepdog rescued from a dog shelter in Slovakia, ) arrived at QBV on his holidays yesterday.

He and his Dad checked in 1 minute after Slovakia scored the first goal! Nice to see that all the dogs (and fans) are all getting along well today😍⚽️🤣
