Sea canaries live among rocks and coral between 15 and 300 meters, where they stay hidden in caves and crevices during the day. They only come out at night to feed on crustaceans and small fish.
They have a bright pink and salmon coloration, while the tail fin includes a gradient of yellow. At the time of breeding, the males' well-developed pelvic fins turn red.
