S. Pedro de Moel, Portugal | 2003 This is a current building rehabilitation project in São Pedro de Moel – Marinha Grande. LOCATION. The ground features a 833.5 sqm area strip close to the woods. Like all the other buildings, this dwelling should have been a two up to three-storey building. Owing to the bendiness and sharp slope ground, as well as to the construction implementation, and to the need of a high access to the dwelling, however, the dwelling features an extra basement floor to parking and storing, with a street levelled straight access gate. DESIGN. There are several principles for achieving our purposes: 1st: To comply with the MMP; 2nd: To examine and identify both the built-up areas and the excessive volumes in order to remove them; 3rd: To revise the preset program in order to meet the building actual circumstances; 4th: To work out a proper construction solution that may guarantee the structural uniformity of the new building. Thus, we will preserve (1) both the current number of floors and the flooring tile levels, and (2) the floor use typology: -1 Floor to parking and storing; 0 Floor to support areas and bedrooms; 1 Floor to both dining and living room, kitchen and lobby; 2 Floor to both reading and living room.
