After almost 15 successful years of renting out our holiday home on the Algarve, the time felt right to make the move to the tranquil Silver Coast. A mad 7 hour return drive from Tavira in the south to Foz do Arelho on the 23rd December 2017 introduced us to a blank canvas of a house that we wanted to call home. The sun was out, we were early, so we had a coffee on the sea front and for the first time breathed in the fresh air from the crashing Atlantic and the calm Lagoon and chattered excitedly about our new find.
We could see the potential of the house that had sat empty and unloved for years and decided that this was where we wanted to be. Some difficult months of negotiations followed and we were finally handed the keys in May 2018. By September the house and garden have just been re-painted and planted and we’re ready to welcome you for a relaxing stay from Easter 2019.
From the rental in the South, we’re experienced in handling guest bookings and queries and have handpicked a local Portuguese and English-speaking team to look after our guests as well as to make sure the house is well maintained when we can’t get there.
We love the village, and the local community and are still finding out new things . Bigger than a village, but not quite a town, Foz is generally quieter outside of the summer months. Weekends on the beach are popular with local families & visiting tourists but after around 5pm you’ll have the areas to yourself again – we love heading to the front to watch the sunset or to take in the stunning views from the cliff top boardwalk. There’s plenty of sea facing bars and restaurants on the beach front, and a number of excellent restaurants and cafés in the village. Little things like the church bell in the still of the night, the buzz of the annual village festa and local fish still delivered (his little white van tooting his horn just outside most lunchtimes) makes us think this is a little slice of Portugal that we’re lucky to find.
