What delicious grilled Codfish we ate! Codfish is one of the most consumed fish in Portugal together with Octopus, Sardines, Horse Mackerel and Tuna, however isn’t a fish we get from Portuguese waters as its from colder waters in the North Atlantic but still very important to locals being one of the main national dishes in Christmas Eve and known for having more than 1001 different recipes from North to South of Portugal. 5 Stars via Airbnb Reviews: “Antonio's tour was fantastic. He is a great source of information on Portugal's history, wine making, and even the beautiful tiles found all over Portugal. I highly recommend this tour for its variety and how it was carefully planned for people interested in wine making and tasting, art, Portugal history, and visiting a charming town, Azeitao. The 3 art exhibits at the winery were really stellar and far exceeded our expectation.” Join us https://ride351.com/wine-experiences-portugal/

What a delicious fresh grilled Sea Bream we ate back in December!! Sea Bream’s feeds on crustaceans and bivalves giving its meat a fresh and iodized taste. Together with the sea bass it is the everyday fish in Portugal. Join us https://ride351.com/food-experiences-portugal/

5 Stars via Airbnb Reviews: “An enthusiastic, fun and knowledgeable guide. Antonio provided for us a truly enjoyable experience. The mixing of wine and art at Bacalho winery/ gallery was beyond our expectations.
Anthony stayed with us during the tour, sharing in conversations related to the tour and Portuguese history and culture. At the end of the trip he gave us some suggestions for sights to visit in Lisbon. Leaving us he instructed us to call him if he could be of assistance. It was a pleasure to meet Antonio and highly recommend using his services.” Join us https://ride351.com/experiences/visit-and-wine-tasting-azeitao/

Cruising on Douro River over the Régua’s bridges up to Pinhão. Situated on the banks of the Douro River, Peso da Régua played a fundamental role in the production and sale of Port wine, for it was from here that the barrels were transported in the special boats known as barcos rabelos to Vila Nova de Gaia, where the wine was left to age in the local wine lodges.

In this region, the vines are grown on terraced slopes leading down to the river, providing visitors with a series of spectacular views, which are best admired from the area's many viewpoints, such as those of São Leonardo at Galafura and Santo António do Loureiro. 5 Stars via Google Reviews: “Our small group (mother and adult daughter) had an excellent custom day tour with Antonio and Ride 351 in September. We worked with Antonio to build an itinerary, but the trip exceeded our expectations in every way. Antonio met us promptly at our lodgings in Lisbon and drove us to Evora, our destination, sharing lots of interesting facts and history with us along the way. He even surprised us with pastries!

In Evora, we enjoyed a traditional lunch and learned more about Portuguese cuisine. This was followed by our favorite part of the excursion--a visit to a stunning winery that Antonio had hand-picked, where we got to tour a 16th century mansion-turned-winery complete with rediscovered chapel; learned about traditional and cutting edge wine production; sampled delicious wines; and, most exciting of all, got to see a huge ancient cork tree up close. We got to do and learn so many extra things due to having an experienced and knowledgeable Portuguese guide, and we'll treasure our memories of this day. After this, Antonio dropped us off at our lodging in Evora, ensuring that we were all good to go before leaving and even carrying our bags. He truly went above and beyond in every way and was such an engaging, informative, and kind host. We would absolutely recommend any length of tour with Ride 351--the customer service, value, and experience were all top-notch and we would love to tour with Antonio on a future visit to Portugal.” Join us https://ride351.com/dream-holidays-in-portugal/

The São Bento train station in Porto started construction in 1900 by King D. Carlos I, on the site where the old convent of S. Bento de Avé Maria previously stood. The interior of the large atrium is lined with twenty thousand pictorial tiles by Jorge Colaço, which represent suggestive historical and ethnographic paintings.

The colorful frieze that runs all around the lobby tells the history of means of transport in chronological order, from the beginnings to the emergence of the train. Below, large historical panels represent scenes from the History of Portugal.

On the North side, the top painting depicts a moment from the Tournament Arcos de Valdevez and the painting below, the fulfillment of Egas Moniz's words. On the south side, the top panel allows you to imagine the solemn entry of D. João I into Porto, with his bride, D. Filipa de Lencastre and the lower one, scenes from the Chronicle of Ceuta. Other smaller panels focus on pictures of life in the region. Join us https://ride351.com/dream-holidays-in-portugal/
