As the weather continues to get warmer and we head to the beach it’s important to stay safe while having fun so I wanted to share this useful information curtesy of Safe Communities Portugal
Would you be able to spot a rip current??

Unfortunately, it’s where you may think it looks easiest to enter the sea. This is because the rip current is looping around and pulling back OUT. Hence no waves rolling IN. NEVER ENTER THE SEA HERE.

Rip currents typically extend from near the shoreline out through the breaker zone where breaking waves form.

If you are already in the sea and get caught in a rip current (you'll know because you will suddenly be moved from your location and it will be impossible to swim against it) don't panic! Swim ACROSS, not against the rip current.
For example, rather than trying to swim to shore while being pushed out, swim parallel to the beach and you will be able to get out. Then you can swim ashore.

Please educate friends or family visiting the beaches this summer.

And Remember: If caught in a rip current, swim parallel to the beach to escape the current.

A big shout out to Kids Forest Club who we can highly recommend!
Whether you are lucky enough to live in the beautiful Luz area or visiting on your holidays. These holiday clubs run for all children & ours absolutely loved them last year!! 🥰
They had a ball, meeting other children and taking part in many different activities, while giving us adults a bit of down time on holiday too, win win. 🙌

🌟🌟🌟 Welcome to our page🌟🌟🌟
As the proud owners of Casa Katerina da Luz we thought it would be nice to introduce ourselves to future guests!👋

We live in the UK with our 2 children. I’m Kate and for the last 4 decades, (now I feel old,😉) Luz has always held a special place in my heart and been like a second home, this love passed down from my family.
🏌️Now along with my golf-loving hubby Ben and our children, we have continued the tradition as our go-to getaway! 🏖️

✨In 2022 fate led us to this gem of a house in Praia da Luz and we were lucky enough to be able to make it our own. We spent the next year renovating it and here we are, loving it, with the doors open to lovely guests 🙌
Well we can’t be in Luz all year, so it’s only fair we share this special place. 🫶

💗 With the new pool, our effort for it to suit families like us and its location, we hope future guests will enjoy their time making memories here too. 🌅

☀️For those not familiar, Praia da Luz simply means Beach of Light and the name of our new house is also a playful twist on my name ☺️
