Today was a complete different day!
I was invited by Danish Land Surveyor Students from Aalborg University in Copenhagen to do a tour of Lisbon focused not just on the history of the city, but also focused about its urban development, policies and measures that happened or are taking place across the city to provide a better life quality to Lisboners. Therefore, I explained the General Plan to avoid floods in Downtown Lisbon, Alcântara and Marvila, I explained what happened with The Earthquake of 1755 and how Baixa was rebuilt after it, using the Gaiola Pombalina System, what are the policies of the town hall to preserve historical findings and traces when buildings are under major renovation works, and how the city manages the Street Art panorama, as well about the transportation system.
It was a beautiful walking tour from the National Pantheon, through Alfama, Baixa, Largo do Carmo until Bairro Alto and São Pedro de Alcântara.
Thank you for your curious minds! Keep on enjoying Lisbon Aalborg Uni Students.
At the end of the tour the group offered me a beautiful wildflower bouquet by Lego (a Danish company). A beautiful 929 puzzle to keep me busy and to color my home!
