Five useful tips for visiting Lisbon from Business Insider below. I would add:
6. Book a Fado show before you come - seeing the Fado is a unique and powerful experience but visitors often find that when they arrive everything has sold out.
7. Buy local - use small family-run local restaurants ("tascas") rather than chains and buy locally-produced souvenirs to get quality at good prices and support the local economy.

And of course...
8. Get a good local tour guide who will help you to make sense of the city in a short time, saving you lots of time and enriching your experience of the city.

As a local tour guide, I see tourists and first-time visitors to Lisbon and greater Portugal make common mistakes around tipping and packing.

Today is the 269th anniversary of the Great Lisbon Earthquake - at 8.5-9 on the Richter Scale, one of the most powerful in the history of humanity. Around 40000 people died in Lisbon alone. Lisbon still experiences occasional earthquakes - the last a 5.4 on 26th August this year.

Do bullfights still exist in Portugal? The answer is yes, but they have become a marginal phenomenon in Portuguese society. Lisbon's bullring at Campo Pequeno is a striking neo-moorish building, but these days is used more for musicals and rock concerts than bullfights.
