I’ve already talked about tourist scams here...

They’re unfair competition for those with certified official training,

today at 10:40pm on the Portuguese television channel “NOW”, a report from “Reporter Sabado”
will be shown, showing an example of what is happening in the tourism market in Portugal. They chose the Tuk Tuk from Lisbon,

This problem is not only with Tuk Tuks, there are dozens of pseudo guides on the market, without any training, and it is unbelievable what some are offering to tourists…

They invent all sorts of things… for example, the statue of D. José in the Praça do Comercio is “….The Alfama Horse…” or “…D Joao….”, the chimneys of the National Palace of Sintra, “…were from an ice cream factory…”

And this is what we are passing on to the Tourists…. A program not to be missed!!!!!

The Templars are one of the most fascinating and mysterious military orders in history, and Portugal played a significant role in their existence. The order of the Knights Templar was founded in the early 12th century with the aim of protecting the Holy Sepulcher and Christian pilgrims on their way to the Holy Land; the name comes from its original headquarters – Solomon’s Temple in Jerusalem. It was these powerful knight monks who helped the first king of Portugal in the war against the Moors during the “Christian Reconquista”.

HIGHLIGHTS 🌟

🔹 Almourol Castle
The castle was rebuilt in 1171 by the first Templar Grand Master Gualdim Pais. Since it was built on an island in the middle of the Tagus River, access would have to be done by boat

🔹️ Constância Village
On the way to Tomar, visit a small typical Protuguesa village, with just a few hundred inhabitants, to taste a traditional conventual sweet from the region; “Queijinhos do Ceu”, made by the Carmelite sisters.

🔹 Tomar Historic Center
Stroll through the historic center of Tomar and visit some of its most interesting monuments; the churches of ‘São João Baptista’ and the oldest synagogue in Portugal.

🔹️ Tomar Castle
Built by Grand Master D. Gualdim Pais, in 1160, as the headquarters of the religious and military order of the Knights Templar.

🔹 Convent of the Order of Christ
After the extinction of the Knights Templar in 1312, King D. Dinis created a new religious militia, the Military Order of Our Lord Jesus Christ, stating the need to defend Portugal from the Moors.
The headquarters of the Order of Christ was created in the former headquarters of the Knights Templar in 1357, where it will remain for centuries. Considered one of the largest monastic complexes in Europe, it was classified by UNESCO as a world heritage site in 1983.
