Good morning good people, today is THE FEAST OF CHRIST THE KING. The Church celebrates this day also called the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, on the last Sunday of the Liturgical year.

The Feast was established by Pope Pius XI in 1925 with his encyclical Quas primas, to respond to a world that was rejecting Christ and was being dominated by secularism.

Pope Pius hoped that the establishment of this feast would bring about the following:
• That this annual celebration would assist the faithful to gain strength in their true King, Jesus Christ;
• That leaders and nations would recognise that they are bound to submit and give respect to Christ the King;
• That nations would see that the Church has the right to freedom, and immunity from the state. In these times when we are challenged in our faith and our ability to worship together, let us remember that Jesus Christ is Our King who reigns forever.
• That individuals should honour and recognise Jesus as their ‘Sovereign King’ and emulate his total gift of self, perfectly embodied on the Cross. In imitation of their thorn-crowned King, individuals can help bring love and relief to those who suffer and help to proclaim the Good News of the Reign of Christ in the world today.

The festival is also observed in Lutheran, Anglican, and other Protestant churches.

Lisbon Street Art by night with Simone de Oliveira that was and will forever be a major reference in the performing arts of the 20th and 21st centuries in Portugal. A symbol of emancipation, irreverence, courage and one of the national talents that inspires more generations, Simone de Oliveira was born in 1938 and marked the national media and artistic panorama, as a singer, actress and presenter.

This mural, painted by his grandson André Mano, is the first work of the Galeria dos Inesquecíveis project, which emerged in 2022 with the aim of celebrating personalities and paying homage to them, valuing the public space and the community of Alvalade. The mural in homage to Simone de Oliveira is a work that features an iconic, feminist and provocative illustration of the artist, which also illustrated the poster for her latest show, in March 2022, at Coliseu dos Recreios.

The mural was painted using two techniques: the first layer with roller paint, to cover the surface, and the second, a detailed work that consumed around 300 cans of spray paint.
