The Magic of Christmas with Bolo Rei and Casa da Avenida Lisboa🎄
Christmas in Portugal is a time of traditions, joy, and warmth. Among the many festive delights that make this season so special, Bolo Rei stands out as a true symbol of the holiday spirit.
Bolo Rei (King Cake) is a classic Portuguese Christmas dessert that graces every family table during the holiday season. Shaped like a crown, this rich brioche-like cake is studded with colorful candied fruits and nuts, symbolizing the jewels of the Magi. Hidden within its soft dough is a tiny figurine and a fava bean—finding them brings playful fortunes (or responsibilities) for the year ahead. Now, imagine savoring a slice of Bolo Rei while nestled in the cozy charm of Casa da Avenida Lisboa, a hidden gem in the heart of Portugal’s vibrant capital. This Christmas, let the rich flavors of Bolo Rei and the charm of Casa da Avenida Lisboa create memories you’ll treasure forever.

Discovering the Magic of Pastel de Nata with Friends🤩
This I had one of the most delightful experiences—a cooking class focused on the iconic pastel de nata, Portugal’s famous custard tart. And what made it even more special? Doing it with a group of friends.
The class was held in a cozy kitchen studio, where the warm aroma of butter and cinnamon greeted us at the door. Our instructor, a charismatic pastry chef, shared the rich history behind these little tarts, which date back to the 18th century when monks in Lisbon perfected the recipe.
Taking this class with friends wasn’t just about learning a recipe—it was about creating memories. We left with more than just tarts, we left with laughter, flour-dusted hands, and a newfound appreciation for the artistry behind every pastel de nata.
If you’ve ever thought about doing a cooking class, grab a few friends and go for it, staying at Casa da Avenida Lisboa we can reserve it. You’ll not only learn something new but also leave with a heart full of joy and maybe a box of warm pastries to share.

A Holiday Tradition:The Stunning Nativity Scene at Amoreiras Shopping Center
Every year, as the holiday season approaches, the Amoreiras Shopping Center in Lisbon transforms into a magical Christmas destination. At the heart of its festive decorations lies one of the city’s most cherished traditions: the stunning nativity scene, or presépio.
The Amoreiras nativity display is more than just a holiday decoration—it is a breathtaking celebration of craftsmanship and culture. The scene captures the story of Christmas with meticulous detail, combining artistic skill with a sense of reverence. Handcrafted figurines depict the Holy Family, shepherds, angels, and the Three Wise Men, all set against a backdrop that evokes the rustic charm of Bethlehem.
If you find yourself in Lisbon during the holiday season, make sure to visit Amoreiras and experience the magic of this beloved tradition. The beauty and spirit of the nativity scene remind us all of the joy, peace, and hope that Christmas brings.

🌰✨ The Joy of Eating Roasted Chestnuts in Lisbon ✨🌰
Nothing captures autumn in Lisbon quite like the irresistible smell of roasted chestnuts filling the streets!
🍂 It’s impossible to resist when that distinctive aroma drifts over from the chestnut carts scattered throughout the city, from Baixa to Chiado, Alfama to Marquês de Pombal.
Roasted chestnuts aren’t just a tasty snack, they’re a true Lisbon tradition. With their crispy, charred shells and soft, warm insides, they’re perfect for warming both hands and hearts on these cool days. 👐❤️ And, of course, the ritual of peeling each chestnut and savoring it slowly is part of the charm.

Crossing the Tejo River on a grey day is one of those quiet pleasures Lisbon offers, especially as the city reveals its softer, more reflective side.
On misty mornings or under a blanket of low-hanging clouds, the river transforms into a mirror, reflecting muted tones of silver and soft blues. As the ferry glides through the river, you catch sight of Lisbon’s pastel-colored hills, which appear more subdued yet somehow more soulful under overcast skies.
Returning home to Casa da Avenida Lisboa completes this experience best. There's nothing like stepping into the warmth and familiarity of a place that feels like home, especially after the cool river air and misty atmosphere. At Casa da Avenida, you’re welcomed by comforting interiors and that unmistakable feeling of belonging.

🍞✨The Tradition of "Pão por Deus" in Portugal! ✨🍞
In Portugal, November 1st is more than just All Saints’ Day; it’s a day marked by the beautiful tradition of Pão por Deus ("Bread for God"), full of meaning and sweet memories. 🕊️
What is Pão por Deus?
Since ancient times, children have gone out on the morning of November 1st, going door-to-door and asking for “Pão por Deus.” With cloth bags or small baskets, they sing traditional verses, and in return, they receive bread, cakes, dried fruits, sweets, or even small coins. 🍬🥖
It is a Tradition of Sharing and Solidarity, it goes back to a time when harvests and bread held a sacred value, symbolizing abundance and blessings. It gained even more meaning after the Lisbon Earthquake of 1755, when people came together to share what little they had.
Today, Pão por Deus is a beautiful way to keep this heritage alive, connecting generations and reminding us of the importance of giving. If you have the chance, prepare a small treat to offer and be a part of this tradition! 🌾🤲
📸 Who has special memories of this day? Share in the comments, and let’s celebrate together! 🧺❤️

Our Story

It all started a long time ago, when my grandfather was only 12 and left for Brazil alone by boat, with the mission of earning a living. He worked hard and created a pastry business.Years later he returned to Portugal and decided to invest and had the building built. For years the floors were rented on a long term basis. From my grandad it passed on to my father and later to me.In 2014 when a floor vacated, I decided to try "the vacation rental" mode, as my dream when I was a little girl was working with turism. Gradually more floors became vacant and I adapted them to short term rental. It was a pleasant surprise the pleasure it gave me to discover this activity. Welcoming Guests is still the best part and making them feel welcome and comfortable is very rewarding.Right now the whole building is dedicated to this activity that keeps me busy 7 days a week.

The apartments has a full equipped kitchen for 9, with fridge, freezer, gas oven, microwave, coffee machine, toaster, juice squeezer, kettle, dish and washing machine. There’s also a grocery store, supermarkets, and a pharmacy. Nearby, a great shopping area, gardens and a church. Parking at 2 minutes, 200 mts walking. Subway at 2 minutes, 200 mts walking with direct line either to the airport (15minutes) and down town (7 minutes) to the Hystorical zone
