I don’t usually enjoy being filmed or being interviewed, but these guys made me feel so at ease, I not only did the interview, but a tour for them to film as part of their uni assignment!

So much fun. Can’t wait to see the final project!

50 years ago today this lady, Celeste Caeiro, now 90, gave a serviceman a red carnation from the bunch she was holding. He had asked her for a cigarette; she didn’t smoke. But she wanted to give something to the young man before her, fighting for her, and the country’s, freedom. So she gave him a flower. As she distributed the rest of her carnations among the soldiers, they started putting them on the barrels of their weapons. Later, florists downtown replicated the gesture.

The authoritarian government in place was overthrown that day, and Celeste’s red carnations gave that peaceful revolution its name.

Today, in Lisboa (and the whole of Portugal), we carry carnations and celebrate freedom.

The weather was not the most cooperative, but we weren’t about to let that get in way! Amazing couple of days with Karen, Chloe and Gaya in Lisboa and Sintra. Beautiful scenery, little known spots, delicious food and much fun and laughter. Some might say Lisboa is even better than Disneyland 😉 Hope to see you again soon, ladies!

The tour guide becomes the tourist! Alpaca experience at 🦙🦙We met them, brushed them, hugged them and fed them. And after that, we got to make a small souvenir made out of these magnificent animals’ wool. A therapeutic, joyful experience for all. I may just have to extend my tours further up north from now on 😉

I haven’t posted in a while (even though the tours have not slowed down), but felt I had to today, as a tribute to someone who recently and very quickly became a friend.

Karen & Brian were in Portugal last October. I had the pleasure of touring Lisboa and the Blue Coast with them, and getting to know two wonderful, joyful, kind human beings. Karen radiated positivity and strength. Over three days, we shared sights, laughs, and many stories. One of those was Karen’s cancer diagnosis…

Yesterday, Brian informed me that Karen had passed, in peace and with no pain, but leaving a big hole in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to have crossed paths with her.

Rest in peace, my dear friend❤️”
