Dia 29 de outubro, a melhor experiência gastronómica do país - The Presidential Train, percorre uma última vez a linha do Douro. Para celebrar o fim deste ciclo, 6 dos melhores Chefs Portugueses embarcam nesta viagem a bordo da jóia da coroa da história ferroviária do país. A esta experiência de luxo, juntam-se os Chefs Alexandre Silva, João Rodrigues, Nuno Mendes, Óscar Geadas, Pedro Lemos e Vasco Coelho Santos - cada um, a cargo de um momento que acompanhará as deslumbrantes paisagens do Douro, numa viagem dos sentidos.

On October 29, the Presidential Train - the very best gastronomic experience in the country- will run one final time. To celebrate it, 6 of the best Portuguese chefs will be on board the crown jewel of the portuguese railway heritage. This once in a lifetime experience will see Alexandre Silva, João Rodrigues, Nuno Mendes, Óscar Geadas, Pedro Lemos and Vasco Coelho Santos cook a once in a lifetime meal to accompany the spectacular views of the Douro Valleys and take you through a full journey of the senses.

Construído em 1890, a jóia da coroa do património ferroviário português, o Comboio Presidencial, propriedade do Museu Nacional Ferroviário , foi oficialmente retirado de circulação em 1970.
A partir de dia 03 de setembro é com enorme prazer que voltamos a vê-lo de volta aos carris das margens do Douro.
Depois poderão visitá-lo no Museu Nacional Ferroviário, no Entroncamento e todo o restante acervo da coleção do Museu. Vale muito a pena. 🚂

Built in 1890, the crown jewel of the portuguese railway heritage, the Presidential Train, owned by the Museu Nacional Ferroviário , was officially withdrawn from circulation in 1970.
From September 3rd it is with great pleasure that we see it back on the rails of the banks of the Douro.
After that you will be able to visit it at the National Railway Museum, at Entroncamento and the rest of the collection of the Museum. 🚂

A viagem pode chegar ao fim, mas as memórias, essas, duram para sempre.
Dois Chefs Michelin regressam ao The Presidential para fazer as honras do último fim-de-semana em que o majestoso The Presidential visita o Douro.

Com 35 anos, natural de Valongo, João Oliveira começou a dedicar-se à cozinha ainda muito jovem.
Após passagens pelo norte e sul do país, João Oliveira, veste em 2015, a jaleca do restaurante VISTA pela primeira vez. E apenas dois anos depois, o famoso Guia Michelin distinguia o Chef, na altura com 30 anos, com a sua primeira Estrela.
Em 2018, começa a desenhar uma novidade em matéria de conceito, um “movimento” criado para o VISTA que se rege pelos valores da sustentabilidade dos ingredientes.

Pedro Lemos iniciou-se profissionalmente no Porto, passando por Lisboa e pelo Douro numa busca incessante pelo seu sonho. Redescobriu o gosto pelos produtos portugueses e pela sua história. Pelo caminho, definiu-se como Chef, ganhou identidade e estilo, aprofundou o seu conhecimento de gastronomia e apaixonou quem provava as suas criações.
Hoje no seu Restaurante Pedro Lemos, aberto em 2009, cozinha com paixão e criatividade e em 2014, conquistou a sua primeira Estrela do prestigiado Guia Michelin.

Journeys may come to an end, but memories last forever.
Two Michelin Chefs return to The Presidential to do the honors of this magnificent last trip.

At the age of 35, born in Valongo, João Oliveira began to dedicate himself to cooking at a very young age.
After passing through the north and south of the country, João Oliveira, in 2015, wears the jacket of the VISTA restaurant for the first time. And just two years later, the famous Michelin Guide awarded the Chef, then with just 30 years old, his first Star.
In 2018, begins to design a novelty in terms of concept, a “movement” created for VISTA that is ruled by the values ​​of sustainability of ingredients.

Pedro Lemos started professionally in Porto, passing through Lisbon and Douro in an incessant search for his dream. He rediscovered a taste for portuguese products and their history. Along the way, he defined himself as a Chef, gained identity and style, deepened his knowledge of gastronomy and got to fell in love those who tasted his creations.
Today at his Restaurante Pedro Lemos, opened in 2009, he cooks with passion and creativity and in 2014 won his first Star in the prestigious Michelin Guide.

Neste fim-de-semana não será apenas o Douro a fazer da sua magia.
O encanto irá chegar-nos da cozinha, onde Alexandre Silva e João Rodrigues irão elevar os nossos sentidos.

Chef Alexandre Silva representa fogo, criatividade e sustentabilidade. Em 2015, abre o irreverente Loco e recebe a primeira estrela Michelin em 2016. Já em 2017, conquistou o Garfo de Platina e o Chef do Ano - os dois prémios correspondentes ao melhor do ano dessas duas categorias. Em 2019, abriu um novo espaço – o FOGO, mais do que um conceito, o FOGO representa uma cultura, um ideal e um modo de vida. 

O Chef João Rodrigues, considerado por muitos como um dos melhores do país acumula distinções. Desde 2013 até Abril 2022, foi chef executivo no restaurante Feitoria, onde manteve uma estrela Michelin por mais de uma década. Nos últimos sete anos, o Chef dedicou o seu trabalho ao aprofundamento da investigação sobre produtores portugueses e à identidade da gastronomia nacional, fundando o Projecto Matéria. Em 2021, recebe o prémio The Game Changer Award, pela La Liste Awards.

The charm will come from the kitchen, where Alexandre Silva and João Rodrigues will elevate our senses.

Chef Alexandre Silva represents fire, creativity and sustainability. In 2015, he opened the irreverent Loco and received his first Michelin Star in 2016. In 2017, he won Garfo de Platina and Chef do Ano - the two awards corresponding to the best of the year in these two categories. In 2019, he opened a new space – FOGO, more than a concept, FOGO represents a culture, an ideal and a way of life.

Chef João Rodrigues, considered by many to be one of the best in the country, accumulates many distinctions. From 2013 to April 2022, he was executive chef at Feitoria restaurant, where he maintained a Michelin Star for over a decade. In the last seven years, the Chef has dedicated his work to research on Portuguese producers and the identity of national gastronomy, founding Projecto Matéria. In 2021, he received The Game Changer Award from La Liste Awards.

O The Presidential Train é uma experiência que se sente no detalhe e para o fim-de-semana de 08 e 09 de outubro, teremos dois grandes nomes da nova geração a levar-nos numa viagem gastronómica.
Duas Chefs que além de pioneiras intrépidas elevam toda a experiência a tradições reformuladas.

Com um percurso feito em restaurantes de luxo, foi no Avenue, um restaurante situado na avenida mais cara de Lisboa, onde Marlene Vieira liderou pela primeira vez uma cozinha em seu nome. Os seus restaurantes demonstram toda a sua versatilidade, desde o restaurante Zunzum ao seu mais recente projeto, o restaurante homónimo de alta cozinha Marlene, e bem antes destes o Marlene Vieira no Mercado da Ribeira.

Michele Marques em 2013, voltou a colocar a gastronomia alentejana no mapa quando realizou o seu sonho, abrir o seu próprio restaurante - Mercearia Gadanha. Rendida aos encantos do Alentejo, acaba de abrir um alojamento de charme no centro de Estremoz, onde também tem outro restaurante, a Casa do Gadanha. Projetos onde tem vindo a reinventar e adaptar a cozinha em constante inovação.

The Presidential Train is an experience that is felt in the details and for the weekend of October 08th and 09th, we will have two great names of the new generation taking us on a gastronomic journey.
Two Chefs who, in addition to being intrepid pioneers, elevate the entire experience to reformulated traditions.

With a career in luxury restaurants, it was at Avenue, a restaurant located in Lisbon's most expensive avenue, where Marlene Vieira led a kitchen in her own name for the first time. Her restaurants demonstrate all her versatility, from restaurant Zunzum to her most recent project, the haute cuisine restaurant of the same name, Marlene, and well before that Marlene Vieira at Mercado da Ribeira.

Michele Marques, in 2013, put the Alentejo gastronomy back on the map when she conquered her dream, opening her own restaurant - Mercearia Gadanha. Surrendered to the charms of the Alentejo, she just opened a boutique hotel in the center of Estremoz, where she also has another restaurant, Casa do Gadanha.

Vasco Coelho Santos, regressa ao The Presidential.
Proprietário do Euskalduna Studio - o seu primeiro espaço de cozinha contemporânea de autor - soma diversas distinções nacionais e internacionais. Atualmente, com o crescimento do Grupo Euskalduna, o Chef tem também outros projetos como o Semea, a Ogi by Euskalduna (padaria) e a Peixaria by Euskalduna.

A imponência do The Presidential quando entra na estação de São Bento, não se explica, sente-se. E a expetativa que nos cria ao som da sua tão característica buzina dita o começo de uma luxuosa experiência pelo rio Douro até à Quinta do Vesúvio.

Durante esta viagem, Hugo Candeias e Pedro Pena Bastos assumem a cozinha.

Hugo Candeias, após 4 anos como Head Chef no emblemático Hoja Santa, regressou a Portugal em 2020, para desenvolver um projeto mais pessoal, no The Art Gate, onde implementou um conceito gastronómico aliado à arte. Atualmente é Chef Executivo do Grupo Paradigma que, além do The Art Gate, detém outros projetos, incluindo o Ofício Lisboa, restaurante onde está sediado, e que desde a sua abertura tem vindo a arrecadar vários prémios e distinções.

Pedro Pena Bastos, regressa ao The Presidential, mas não dispensa apresentações. Em 2018, lançou um projeto único - Ceia, que recebeu, no mesmo ano, o prémio Chef de L’Avenir e restaurante New Discovery do guia World’s 50 Best Restaurants. Em 2021 ganhou o prémio Restaurante Revelação 2021 Boa Cama Boa Mesa, já no Cura. Em Dezembro de 2021, recebe a sua primeira Estrela Michelin pelo Cura - novo conceito gastronómico do Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon.

The magnificence of The Presidential when you enter the São Bento station cannot be explained, but can be felt. The sound of its characteristic horn, dictates the beginning of a luxurious experience along the Douro River towards Quinta do Vesúvio.

During this journey, Chefs Hugo Candeias and Pedro Pena Bastos take over the kitchen.

After 4 years as Head Chef at the emblematic Hoja Santa, Hugo Candeias is currently Executive Chef of the Paradigma Group which, in addition to The Art Gate, has other projects including the Ofício Lisboa restaurant which has collected several awards and distinctions since it opened.

Pedro Pena Bastos, returns to The Presidential, but deserves a special introduction. After launching a unique project, Ceia, which saw him receive multiple awards, he received in 2021 his first Michelin Star for Cura - the new gastronomic concept of the Four Seasons Hotel Ritz Lisbon.
