𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗴𝗮𝗹:
Are you planning on visiting Portugal but don't know the best time to come?
There are a few things that you need to know before you book your next trip!
Portugal has a Mediterranean climate, being one of the mildest European countries: the temperatures may range from below 0ºC (32ºF) in the mountainous northern interior where we get snow in the winter to over 40ºC (104ºF) in the southern interior areas of the country.
Spring (April to late May) and fall (September to late October) are definitely the best times to come: days are longer, the climate is milder, and there are plenty of cultural activities going on.
During the summer, temperatures are warmer and there’s a series of popular festivities (St. Anthony’s in Lisbon and St. John’s in Porto in June, and Our Lady of Agony in Viana do Castelo), and music festivals, but it is also a lot more crowded especially if you are considering spending some time on the seaside. The months of July and August are particularly crowded in the Algarve, so we strongly suggest you avoid these months if you want to explore the region. Shoulder season could be a great option though!
In the low season (November to March), days are shorter, and you can expect more services (shops, restaurants, etc.) to be closed during lunchtime (around 12h30 to 02h00pm) and fewer activities, except for Christmas and New Year, and Carnival.
