RV Megaptera

We go on fancy ecotours around Lisbon, aye dolphins are very handsome but I love racing with other boats, I always win! I've born to sail fast, my first capt'n wanted me to sail to his vacation island pretty fast, me second capt'n and I won all the local regattas together. I've seen 2 different Oceans, survived few storms (aye! Hurricanes too), I've crossed deserts, suffered under a scorching sun

and literally froze to death. In my thousands of leagues sailed, I've seen plenty of fishes, I had barracudas living under me for a while! That's why I've moved to the current capt'n, he is my best bet to see this mythical beast and he needed me to find them. I sail under the flag of ECCO Ocean, a private and individual initiative led by my new marine biologist capt'n which has experience in cetaceans (aye, fancy name for dolphins and whales). It runs on a strategy where their marine research is self-financed through ecotourism. Aye, I sail pretty fast so I'm perfect for keeping their tours ecological as no need to put the engine to work. Our fancy ecotours are mainly focused in dolphin watching expeditions, which is their specialty and main study subject. All expeditions also include the sightseeing of Portuguese natural heritage and observation of those flying bilge rats that p**p on me deck (aye, bird watching for you). My captain wanted to paint me yellow with marine fauna scattered on my hulls... aye it seems he wanted me to be his Magic School Bus... I said no way, I only dress white and black (or very dark blue/grey). So in accordance with this TV series their speeches aim natural and science related subjects, such as biology, oceanography, geology, astronomy, pre-history, age of discoveries, physics, chemistry and of course, boats (which are mostly physics). All our tours, snacks, beverages, meals and even their background activities are intended to have a minimum impact on the environment and those that aren’t, we probably are implementing a solution. (I agree, I would like to meet a polar bear)
ECCO Ocean conciliate various fields of science, such as biology, chemistry and physics to reduce our footprint on the planet and better understand the marine environment. These mainly consist of developing an innovative, efficient and sustainable research vessel, and I'm the one! This is a diverse and inter and multidisciplinary initiative in which all activities are always somehow connected to the sea.
