The chapel of the Palace of Pena resulted from the adaptation of the former monastic church of Nossa Senhora da Pena. The stained glass window of King Ferdinand II, on the wall opposite the high altar, dates from 1840, shortly after the construction of the Palace began, and was made in the famous Nuremberg stained glass workshop of the Kellner family. The stained glass reveals the artistic intentions, but also those of political legitimization, behind the construction of the Palace.
