Behind the waterfront district of Santos, are the narrow streets of the tiny and picturesque Madragoa, which, together with Alfama, was home to Lisbon's fishwives and fishing community. Right in the middle of this quaint neighborhood is where we are - in the very old Travessa das Inglesinhas. Today Madragoa it's known for its traditional taverns, "petiscos" (tapas) restaurants, for its many tiled façades and all the charme of a traditional Lisbon “bairro”.

Santos, its more mundane neighbor, is known for its design shops, design and architecture schools, and for bars and clubs that attract college students and teenagers. The area is famous for its nightlife and bohemian atmosphere but it's also a neighborhood of grand mansions, just like the residential Lapa district up the hill. It was here that many aristocrats and noble families lived in the 18th century.

The two apartments retain all the charm of a pre-earthquake Lisbon typical building. This fully-furnished tourist apartments are both very tastefully decorated, with simplicity and practicality in mind.

Our rental apartments are located in a quiet and familiar environment, 2 minutes walk from Santos square, the riverfront, Sao Bento Palace (portuguese parliament), 5 minutes walk from the Estrela Basilica and 15 minutes walk from Bairro Alto and Chiado. A perfect area for your holidays in Lisbon

The area also very well served by several public transports and, therefor, you can go anywhere in Lisbon with ease - tram, bus and train from Cascais line. If you want to use your own car, parking is not subject to parking meter in the surrounding streets and there is a large underground parking lot in Santos, just 150 meters away.

Madragoa is a historical district with many palaces, churches and convents. We are a 200 meters from the Puppets Museum and a 10 minutes walk from the Ancient Art Museum and the Basilica da Estrela. All the neighborhood as privileged access to the riverfront, Avenida 24 de Julho, Praça da Ribeira and Cais do Sodré. The Santos train station and tram stops, right in front of the old Santos docks, provide direct access to Belém, Alcântara and Cascais.

Just let yourself be immersed in the real Lisbon and get a feeling of what is to be a local. Our rental apartments are off the beaten track for tourist but so very well located that you won't feel any problem moving around Lisbon.
