Portuguese Passport Considered One Of The Most ‘Valuable’ In 2018
Portugal ranks 5th in the ranking of the world’s most valuable passports in 2018, according to the Henley Passport Index report, which assesses the mobility and residence permit allowed by the documents of each parent. A position that the Portuguese passport shares with more countries, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands. The study used the International Air Transport Authority (IATA) to collect information from 227 destinations and 199 passports from different countries. This platform undergoes recurring updates throughout the year to maintain data reliability should changes in visas be made in different countries. In the case of Portugal there was a rise of sixth place, with 171 destinations, to the fifth place, currently totaling 186 destinations. However, Portugal has excellent results, according to this ranking, since 2006 has always been among the top 10 places in the table of countries. Japan leads the ranking, adding a total of 190 destinations that will grant visas to its citizens, and lastly, they will find Iraq and Afghanistan, with only 30 destinations where their citizens will receive visas.
