@ home with the Himba on our recent Kaoko Moto….indigenous to northern Namibia, the Himba are a semi-nomadic pastoralist people who value their wealth in livestock. Himba people, especially the women, cover themselves with otize paste, a cosmetic mixture of butterfat and ochre pigment - when applied to their hair plaits it gives them a very distinctive texture and orange/red tinge, symbolising the essence of life and their ideal of beauty

A few years ago, sitting around a campfire inside the Arctic Circle I was told about the northwest of Namibia by the founder of . Yesterday I rode into Damarland with a team of Cavaleiros and had the privilege to spend time with the rangers of the Save the Rhino trust that keep these remarkable animals safe. Thank you Charlie, we shall be back again in the future and am re-invigorated to get the Electric Ranger Ride up and running….the fundraising would be well spent on the conservation projects you support

TUSK Arctic Challenge - complete! A great effort from the teams participating this year to raise funds for conservation projects across Africa.

Getting close to that time of year again when I head up to the Arctic ‘freezer’ for the privilege of hosting the TUSK Arctic Challenge. Temperatures dropped to -32 a few days ago, it’s warmed up since, but all adds to the hardship the participants will have to endure whilst raising funds for an amazing charity. More posts to follow when I’m in situ.
