I am the founder of the Floresta das Lebres Project, a regenerative and community-based initiative aimed at protecting the natural environment. This project came to an end due to pressure from local authorities regarding the LAV project, despite the fact that, interestingly, the project was altered just two weeks after I mentioned to a certain individual, that, a false complaint that had been made against me, was possibly motivated by this unfortunate situation.
Since October 2023, I have dedicated a great deal of time to analyzing this project—factually, energetically, and emotionally—assessing both the costs and benefits for myself, my family, my community, and my country.
I now formally acknowledge and agree that this project serves the public interest of the country. I also request that, regarding my property (a section of the planned route that would have led to the destruction of six homes), the project be revised back to its previous study, which was abandoned. Despite my great-grandmother—this land’s first resident—having done everything possible, and even the impossible, as a survivor of domestic violence, a single mother, and an entrepreneur who pioneered one of Portugal’s first door-to-door milk delivery businesses to make this place special and a legacy for many, it was not enough. The energetic karma of this place is undeniable.
Today, I truly believe that the best destiny for this land is to serve as a passage for tourists’ dreams, professionals’ ambitions, and the overall ecological balance of our population, contributing to the country's environmental sustainability as an alternative mode of transportation for both tourists and residents.
However, this project must be carried out with the utmost respect for property rights and the history of people and places. The compensation for expropriations must be fair and proportional to what people will lose. It must absolutely include unlicensed homes, as failing to do so would mean that Infraestruturas de Portugal, APA, and the concessionaire winning the contract would be violating constitutional rights.
