🌳 Fonte Férrea 🌳

This (picknick) place is a great spot to enjoy nature, water, a barbecue at one of the public bbq spaces. Or to drink a coffee at the little cafe.

From here many walking trails start and for every level of experience there is a route. Sam for the one who love to ride a mountainbike 🚵‍♀️ beautiful routes!

Just 15 minutes away by 🚙 from our Quinta!

☀️ Sunny days in Wintertime! ☀️

The terraces of all our houses are very big, private and there’s always a sunny spot to enjoy your day.
The winters in the Algarve are mainly warm, sunny and perfect for a bit more sporty activity.

🌿 Our garden 🌿

Our main garden is shared with all our guests. A place where kids play, adults drink a glass of wine and where people are having fun in the pool! 😍

But did you know our garden was completely empty when we bought the Quinta? A lot has changed in the past 8 years!

🌅 tip for watching the sunset 🌅

From our Quinta you can see the top of the mountain ‘Sao Miguel’ at 411 meters above sea level.
It’s a great place to watch the sunset and overlooking the Ria Formosa. On clear days you look way further than Faro and Tavira. Beautiful! 😍

It’s a nice activity to do with (little) kids. They love the views, you can explain where the different villages are and teach them about the sunset/sunrise.

For the sporty ones, you can run or cycle to the top. Heavy, but worth the effort 😉
Who wants to give it a try? Or maybe already did? 🚴‍♂️🏃‍♀️

🥳 Happy birthday 🥳

Today 34 years, what a mileage. A quarter of my life I live in Portugal. What a blessing.
This morning I woke up and there were balloons 🎈 flowers 🌺 and presents. A nice picnic with self made apple pie 🤤 and family and more nice things to come. So, long story short: a great day so far.

📣 Breaking news 📣

It’s official, we are going to move! But don’t worry, we will stay very close as we are moving to the house of our neighbours 😍

This means that we are going to rent out our current private house from December this year onwards. 🤗
Name of the house: Cabana do Campo 🏡

A lot of our guests were/are curious to see how we live. Well here is a sneak peek 👀 haha. The photos are with our private stuff inside so in november we will give you an updated version how it is going to be when you would stay with us.

🌿 Carob time 🌿

August is the time to harvest the carob (Alfarroba). Which is used for many different things such as flower for cakes, medicine and food for animals.

This year we had great help from Bob and Sam but also from our young guests 💪🌿🙏

We bring the carobs to a company who collects all the carobs from the neighbourhood. Millions of carobs in one place… amazing 🤩!!! Our boys liked it too.

☀️ Farol ☀️

Farol is a small village on one of the beautiful islands that the Ria Formosa has, Ilha Culatra. You can go there by ferry or with the water taxi.

Yesterday we went with our sailboat to celebrate Gust’s birthday 🎁. A beautiful day with friends and with beautiful views like this 😍⛵️

We had a good lunch at Restaurant ‘A do João’ .farol

🐱 BIA 🐱

Meet our newest member of our family: Bia the cat.
She is still a kitten and loves attention! 😍

She is funny, quick and sweet. When you stay with us you will definitely see her. Bia is looking forward to meet you! See you soon 🤗

☀️SUP ☀️

This week we went early in the morning for a little SUP tour around Fuseta beach. 😍

We have two SUP’s for rent. They are inflatable so easy to take with you! Of course they come with a pump, paddle and fin. We do have waterproof bags to bring your personal belongings.

€30 for a full day or €50 for both of them.

🌅 Sunrise in the Ria Formosa 🌅

Last night I slept on our little sailboat with Bob. This morning when we woke up we watched this beautiful sunrise 😍 a very good start of the day!

The Ria formosa is a beautiful natural park with many bird species and fish. 🐟

Bob and I made a trip on our SUP (which you can rent from us) from Praia dos Cavacos to Armona and back. We saw flamingos 🦩 two squids 🦑 a sea star ⭐️ and a lot of other fish. Last but least we saw sea cucumbers too 😂

It’s highly recommended to make a boat trip through the Ria Formosa! Or to explore the area by SUP! ☺️

😍 Privacy 😍

When we decided to renovate our Quinta into five separate houses, we had a big wish; every house a large private terrace. 🌿🌺

This is one of the things that makes Quinta da Vida unique in her way. Happy to give this private space to our guests!

Every terrace has a lounge set, dining table, two lounge chairs and of course a barbecue 🍗🐟🌽

🚲 Bicycle 🚲

Often we get the question if we miss something from the Netherlands. Besides the ‘hagelslag’ (chocolate sprinkles), Dutch cheese and ‘appelstroop’ (kind of jelly made from 🍎), I miss cycling too. I do cycle on my road bike and enjoy it a lot. But with Bob and Sam we hardly go somewhere by bicycle. This last week we had Dutch guests how had an electric bike with two child seats on it. They were so kind to me that I could borrow their bike for a morning. Thank you ☺️

So I brought Sam and Bob to the daycare by bike. They loved it 😍
Hopefully in the future it will happen more!
