We did it!
We have just finished our project, Quinta da Lila, Monchique!
In 2021, we acquired the land and ruins that we now call Quinta da Lila. Abandoned since the 1980s, the farm quickly fell into disrepair. Though it was listed for sale around 2000, it took over two decades before we became its new owners.
It took three years of hard work to completely transform the ruins and overgrown terraces into three amazingly beautiful rental homes and a newly planted vineyard.
It took vision, persistence and above all teamwork of everyone involved. We want to mention in particular:
• Arnold Aarssen, creative director of StudioArte who developed the wonderful architectural concept, making the Quinta so much more than just another renovation of an old building
• Cristiano Cristovao, our builder, who put huge effort and energy in making our plans a reality, sharing our vision to bring beautiful buildings back to its former glory
• Pedro Zé Lagarto, who was our master of all exterior stonework, delivering amazing results in the restoration of terrace walls, old irrigation tanks and ancient pathways
• Benoit Csv, who was responsible for the choice of plants and trees we planted in the gardens, providing a beautiful backdrop for all three homes
• Chris Evoy, owner of Ceiceira Winery, who played a hugely important role in enabling us to realise our vineyard dream.
• Anibal Neto, our agronomist who has played an instrumental role in making all the right decisions when we planned and executed the planting of our vineyard and has been a great consultant since
• Jorge Cabrita, the man who took on the challenge, and did a fantastic job, in constructing what is probably the most complicated irrigation system in The Algarve
