Situated on the edge of the Serra de Estrela National Park in Central Portugal, with stunning views of the mountains and valleys, both casas sleep two, and are the perfect place for couples or friends to relax and unwind. Casa Figo and Casa Flores were both farm buildings and have been transformed into two self-contained detached holiday homes for two persons. They are fully equipped for your stay
and each can have either twin or king/super king size beds. The grounds extend to just over a hectare and consist of terraces, woodland, and an organic vegetable garden and orchard. There are grape vines and fruit trees, oranges, clementines, plums, pears, apples and figs. Olive oil is produced for our use from the olives. The water is from a deep bore hole unique to us, and there is also a water mine and little streams making their way down the valley. The views from the casas are breathtaking, and bring a constantly changing display of colours, light and shadows. Some days bring an early morning mist below, giving an ethereal quality to the trees and valleys. Relax, recharge and enjoy the peaceful surroundings where nature is all around. Sit in the shade with a good book, or lounge in the sunshine. Five minutes in the car will take you to a beautifully clean and refreshing river beach in the valley below, with its waterwheel, thatched umbrellas and bar/café in season. There is a lovely relaxed feel to life in this part of Portugal, where the pace of living seems to slow down. However Oliveira do Hospital is only ten minutes away where you will find everything you need for day to day living. Local cafés, an ATM and shops are even closer. The prices are very reasonable for local and regional wine, providing a great opportunity to sample what some say are the best they have tasted. The larger towns of Coimbra and Viseu are forty minutes away, and will appeal to those who like history and culture. The Silver Coast is an hour away, where the surfing is ranked amongst the best in the world. For those with an adventurous spirit, there is hiking, climbing, paragliding, kayaking and cycling, all within easy reach, and there is a 27 hole golf course in Viseu. Yoga is available on site in the small studio at Quinta do Castanheiro. Blue Mountain Views are too nice to keep to ourselves, we look forward to sharing our home with you. Please Note: Due to the steep terrain and some unprotected terraces, Blue Mountain Views is not suitable for young children and those with limited mobility.
