🍇 1. Region of origin Vinho Verde: produced in the northwest region of Portugal, officially called the Vinho Verde Region, which stretches from Minho to part of Porto.
Douro Wine: comes from the Douro Valley, further east, also known as the region of the famous Port Wine.
🥂 2. Wine style Vinho Verde: can be white, rosé or red, but the most famous are the light, fresh whites, with striking acidity and, often, a slight natural gas.
Douro Wine: these are generally more full-bodied and structured wines, both red and white. The region also produces the famous Port Wine, which is fortified (with the addition of brandy).
🍃 3. Flavor profile Vinho Verde: citrusy, refreshing, with notes of green apple, lemon and sometimes a slight mineral touch.
Douro wine: richer and more intense, with flavors of ripe fruit, spices, and more pronounced tannins (in the case of red wines).
🍽️ 4. Pairing Vinho Verde: great with seafood, salads, and light meals. Douro wine: goes well with red meats, more seasoned dishes, and cured cheeses.
