When photographing Portugal's stunning Algarve coastline, morning golden hour (just after sunrise) creates magical soft light that highlights the golden cliffs against azure waters. From our Casa Emella villa in Albufeira, we've found that Praia da Falésia offers brilliant colour contrasts at dawn, whilst Benagil Cave photographs best between 11am-1pm when light beams through its natural ceiling opening.

For truly captivating coastal images, use a polarising filter to reduce reflections and deepen the Mediterranean blues. The infinity pool at our villa provides a splendid foreground element for sunset compositions, framing the distant hills in golden light. Remember to pack a tripod for those low-light masterpieces and long exposures that capture the gentle movement of waves against ancient limestone formations.
