Portugal Masters - Victoria - Vilamoura - Algarve - Portugal

As from the 24th of October to the 27th the European Tour will be again hosted on the Victoria Course in Vilamoura. This event had attracted some of the finest players which will include Martin Kaymer, Padraig Harrington, Matt Wallace, Oliver Fisher and Lucas Bjerregaard amongst others. The owners have been investing money in improving the general composition of the course fairways to provide an even more testing event.

Polish golfer made golfing history by winning his maiden title of the '57th Open de Portugal' in the Algarve and the first Pole to win on the European Tour. Two strokes more was Spanish player Sebastian-Garcia Rodriguez. Placed equal third were Italian Francesco Laporta and Austrian Martin Wiegele. Adrian Meronk moved to 263rd position in the World Rankings and 7th place in the Challenge Tour Rankings.

"Open de Portugal" at Morgado Golf Resort

The 57th "Portuguese Open" is taking place this weekend on the Morgado Golf Course near to the town of Portimao in the Algarve. This year there is a record of 18 Portuguese golfers participating against an international field which includes several prominent players such as France's Gregory Harvet and England's Ben Shaw. This event is part of the Challenge Tour which will culminate eventually in the 45 top players competing for an European Tour card.

40th Fatacil Fair
The ever popular "Fatacil Fair" at Lagoa is in full swing and runs to the 25th of August. This is the most important yearly Handicarft, Tourisim, Agricultural, Trade and Industry Fair in the south of Portugal. Every evening live entertainment is provided by different leading bands and singers. It is open from 18:00 hrs until 01:00 hrs and entrance costs € 4.00.

Algarve Rugby Festival 2019

Browns Sport & Leisure Club in Vilamoura are at present the holiday base for the British Army squad. The highlight of this season will be an fixture on May the 4th between Gibraltar RFU and the Swedish RFU. Spectators are welcome and entrance is free.

An "Easter Tournament" will be held at the Monte Rei Resort on the 17th of April, 2019. The round will be Stableford with a Shotgun Start from 09:30 hours. Entry is € 145.00 per participant which includes use of a Buggy and a Buffet Lunch with prize giving.

2019 JJW CUP & PRO/AM

From the 23rd to the 27th of October the JJW Hotel and Golf Resorts will be holding their JJW Cup & PRO/AM for 2019. Participant Fee is € 1,020.05 which includes 2 nights accommodation in the Hotel Penina and 3 nights at the Dona Filipa Hotel, a Practice Round on the Championship Course on the first day then followed on the second day by the PRO/AM. On the third day arrival at the Dona Filipa Hotel with a Practice Round, the a competition round on the San Lorenzo Course and a competition round on the final day on the Pinheiros Altos Course. Also included are two lunches and a dinner covering day three and four.

The prestigious "World Golf Awards 2018" have awarded for the fifth year in succession that Portugal is the "Best Golf Destination" in the world. In the Algarve the Monte Rei Golf Course was voted as the "Best Course in Portugal" and the Hilton in Vilamoura was considered the "Best Golf Hotel".

Whose life is it Anyway?
The long standing Algarveans Theatre Group have made "Whose life is it anyway" their next stage production to be held in the Lagoa Auditorium on the 22nd to the 24th of November. The tickets cost € 12.00 and the play commences at 19:45 hrs.

The Santo Antonio Golf Course held their annual "Autumn Festival" in the last week of September. It was well supported with over 670 rounds in total. Michael Abbott claimed the Men's Trophy and Sheila Fleming the Ladies. The Challenge Cup was won by the team of José Estevan and Fernando Folha.
