We met in Camden, London in the early 90´s, our band was looking for a keyboard player and Mauricio, being a serious candidate, got the gig. Who knew back then that this would lead to a long-lasting friendship and a shared passion of the good things in life. We both worked at Oddbins, a chain of the coolest wine shops in the UK at the time. We devoured wine with an enthusiasm that entailed long co

nversations over a home cooked meal while carefully trying to pair wines with the dish at hand. We spent the following 10 years working and learning about this sweet nectar. In early 2001 we both had a calling and moved back to Porto, the beautiful city we both grew up in. Mauricio worked with wine in the Douro Valley and Michael set up his design agency in Porto. We both explored this fantastic valley and vineyards over the years.

15 years on, what we wanted, was to share the knowledge and unique places we discovered over the years. So, more than 20 years later, Douro Tours was born, out of love for the terroir, the Douro Valley and its unique wines.
