Even though the Douro valley is mostly known for the vineyards which are planted in staircase like terraces, almond trees also deserve some praise. Between a short period that usually happens between February and March, they blossom and sprinkle the landscapes with white.

Arraiolos is a small town with a long history that's famous for the intricate rugs. They're made with wool and fabric and hand sewn by local women. Making these rugs is a hard and demanding job and the technique has been passed along generations to keep this tradition alive.

A piece costs an average of 250€ per m², which takes about 2-3 weeks to achieve and can last over 100 years 🤯

trabalho é muito exigente e minucioso. A técnica tem vindo a ser passada de geração em geração de forma a manter viva esta tradição.

Um tapete custa em média 250€ por m², o que demora cerca de 2-3 semanas para atingir, e pode pode durar mais de 100 anos 🤯

In the countryside of Beiras there is a network of 12 adorable historical villages. It’s a very peaceful area of the country, with very old traditions and customs, where many locals rely on agriculture and farming. In some villages crossing the medieval walls and wandering in the centre almost feels like travelling back in time. 👑

Minho is located in the northwest of Portugal and offers many reasons to visit. Apart from the beautiful landscapes, which have a special charm even when it's rainy and foggy, it also gathers an incredibly rich cultural and historical heritage. The winter solstice marks the official start of winter in the northern hemisphere, but we must say we were already feeling it: frosty air, cold gushes of wind and the smell of wood burning in the fireplace. This sounds even more magical when you add snow to the mix! ❄️ Serra da Estrela is the largest protected area in Portugal and it's located right in the heart of the country. It is also one of the most famous ones because it is where Portugal mainland highest peak can be found, where one of our best cheeses is produced and also one of the few areas where there are snow sport facilities during winter time.

What's better than an active day outdoors, wool jumpers, a glass of wine, good cheese and a crackling fire on a cold wintery day? We honestly don't know... 😉

O solstício de Inverno marca o início oficial do Inverno no hemisfério norte, mas confessamos que já o andamos a sentir há algum tempo: o ar gelado, o vento frio e o cheirinho a lareiras acesas. Isto soa ainda melhor quando juntamos neve à mistura! ❄️ A Serra da Estrela é a maior área protegida em Portugal e f**a mesmo no centro de Portugal . Este parque natural é famoso por ser onde se encontra o maior pico em Portugal continental, onde é produzido um dos melhores queijos portugueses e também por ser um dos únicos locais onde se pode praticar desportos de inverno.

Afinal de contas o que é que sabe melhor do que um dia de atividades ao ar livre, uma boa camisola de lã, um copo de vinho, bom queijo e uma lareira a crepitar? Honestamente não conseguimos lembrar-nos de nada melhor num dia de Inverno 😉

Today we celebrate the International Tea Day, so we had to dedicate this post to our own tea ☕️

Nowadays there are tea plantations in continental Portugal, but it all started in Açores. No one knows exactly how the tea got to Açores. Some say it came in the boats that departed from the East during the 18th century, others that it was an azorean that brought it from Brazil. Truth is the biggest bio tea plantations in Europe can be found in the northern coast of São Miguel, where it's possible to walk around the property, visit the factory, learn about the whole tea-making process and then taste it.

Apart from tea, São Miguel is an inspiring destination where nature takes the lead 🌳💦

Hoje celebra-se o Dia Internacional do Chá, por isso dedicamos este post ao nosso ☕️

Hoje em dia existem plantações de chá em Portugal continental, mas tudo começou nos Açores. Não se sabe exatamente como é que o chá foi lá parar. Uns dizem que o chá veio nos barcos vindos do oriente no século XVIII, outros que foi trazido do Brasil. O que é certo é que as maiores plantações biológicas de chá na Europa encontram-se na costa norte da ilha de São Miguel, onde é possível passear pela propriedade, visitar a fábrica, aprender sobre todos processo de fabrico de chá e, no final, fazer uma prova!

Para além do chá, São Miguel é um destino inspirador onde a natureza abre caminho 🌳💦
