“O Adamastor”

The name Adamastor is an adaptation for the Portuguese language from the Greek word for "Untamed" or "Untameable" (Adamastos) (which the Portuguese did tame).

Mythological character created by the Portuguese poet Luís de Camões in his epic poem Os Lusíadas (first printed in 1572), as a personification of the Cape of Good Hope, symbolizing the dangers of the sea and the formidable forces of nature challenged and ultimately overcome by the Portuguese.

Today we present Vasques D'Carvalho's White Reserva, which won 92 points at the Decanter World Wine Awards.

The evolution in wooden casks of 550 liters over an average of 8 years is notable for its golden yellow color, highlighting some aromas of dried fruits such as peach and apricot. With a fine and very present acidity, it evolves into toasted notes.

It should be served at 12ºC/53ºF, and can be paired with orange sweets, dried fruit cakes or goat cheese.

The types os vines that may be planted in the region is regulated by a decree-law that lists the authorized varietals.

The most noteworthy red varietals are: Tinta Amarela, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Francesa, Touriga Nacional and Tinto Cão.

The predominant white grapes are: Malvasia Fina, Viosinho, Donzelinho and Gouveio.
