The La Hacienda Links (former Alcaidesa Links), has one of the best views of the entire municipality of San Roque over the Mediterranean and is the only Links-style course in southern Spain. It has 18 holes par 72, and it was opened in 1992; nowadays, has been recently redesigned by Kurtis Bowman and is now a modern golf course sustainable.

It is a challenging golf course, with unique views, and with quality in its route at the level of the best courses in Europe. It is made up of wide fairways, double greens, large bunkers strategically located and gentle slopes that descend towards the sea, ending in a beautiful beach, creating a front of almost 2 km so that a large part of its holes border the beach.

The La Hacienda Links is now more to the sea and has one of the best views of the entire Costa del Sol over the Mediterranean, Gibraltar and Africa, which can be appreciated from all its greens.

After a requalification project, the reopening of the Vilamoura Laguna Golf Course is scheduled for September, the plans for the refurbishment of the golf course were based on three key pillars: definition, contrast, and uniformity.

The plans included the full substitution of the outdated irrigation system was not able to keep the course in good condition in the dry months. With this, it was possible to reduce water consumption by around 30%, for the same playing area. This saving in water consumption is also possible due to the new varieties of grass selected, which are more tolerant of water shortages.

At its reopening players can expect a golf course in which it will be possible to clearly identify all areas to play, along with the contrast given by the different tones of grass and cutting heights.

The Algarve region of Portugal is home to some a number of Europe’s Top 100 golf courses, much of which is due to its ideal terrain and weather conditions.

As a consequence any golf course built on the Algarve has to achieve very high standards of design and management not to be looked upon as inferior. The Vale da Pinta golf course, set in the Pestana Golf Resort near Carvoeiro in the Western Algarve, is a course that accepts the ‘quality’ label with ease.

Buenavista Golf Course is situated in the extreme North-Western corner of the island of Tenerife, Spain; located on striking cliffs and flanked by the impressive Teno Country Park. This 18 holes and Par 72 golf course was designed by Seve Ballesteros and it was inaugurated in October 2003. By making the most of its close proximity to the stunning coastline, the course has been perfectly integrated into the terrain in a way that on several of the greens the feeling you get is that the ball is being hit straight into the ocean.

Fairways at Buenavista Golf Course are generally wide and forgiving, though do not stray too far into the lateral waste areas as thick vegetation and rocks will hamper any attempt at retrieving a stray ball. Around the greens, sand-based putting surfaces are very receptive to holding approach shots and bunkers are generally wide and shallow, allowing a fair number of “sand saves” to be made.

The large central lake in front of the Club House between the 9th and 18th holes and a waterfall are water obstacles that lend a fresh feel to this unusual golf course in North Tenerife. The recommended route to the course is via the small town of El Tanque but we recommend that you hang a left at Santiago del Tiede and take the narrow, twisting mountain road through Masca. Combining the sensational scenery of this tourist trail with 18 holes at Buenavista is an experience not to be missed.

Espiche Golf Course in the Western Algarve is just a 10km distance from the historical city of Lagos, designed by South African architect Peter Sauerman; the course is set within the unspoilt undulating countryside. The greens and fairways have been carefully placed to balance the dual demands of the golfer and the environment, with indigenous planting throughout creating a beautiful backdrop and some challenging obstacles.

The golf course requires careful thought along the 5862 metres (6411) yards from the back tees and requires a deft touch on the short game.

Bunkers guard most greens while the greens themselves are large and undulating, demanding a soft hand with the putter. Espiche Golf Course is a shot-maker’s course, where each hole poses a new challenge thanks to the variety of the layout.

Golfers are pushed to take risks with their game at Espiche Golf Course, with rich rewards for those who make the most of their golfing skills and who best judge the course.

Perched high above the golden sands and blue water of the Atlantic Ocean, between Vilamoura and Albufeira, lies the immaculate Pine Cliffs Golf Course. Architect Martin Hawtree’s main concern was to keep the natural surroundings as it was before the course was built.

This pretty 9-hole Pine Cliffs hotel course opened in 1991 and it’s one of Portugal’s most original golfing layouts, with fairways routed through a delightful pine forest that sits on cliff tops along the Algarve coastline.

At 2,450 yards from the back tees, Pine Trees is not long – only a couple of its par four holes measure more than 350 yards – yet it presents an engaging round for the many holiday golfers who play here.

The 434-yard 5th is a tough proposition to play here when the wind is up along the edge of the cliffs and it’s followed by the feature hole on the card, the par three “Devil’s Parlour,” where the tee shot must fly all the way to a green that lies 200 yards across an intimidating jagged precipice that drops down sharply to the beach below.

Pine Cliffs is perfect if you want a quick game, or you can play it twice for a thoroughly enjoyable 18 holes.

Santa Clara presents a technically challenging golf course. The layout is superb and has been created with respect for the natural environment of indigenous wildlife and vegetation, providing a fantastic meeting place for golf enthusiasts.
Like so many of the new courses, space is at a premium so be careful on some of the fairways that run parallel with other holes.
After a relatively flat and friendly start, the golf course rises over hills and then runs along the valley floor, with a liberal sprinkling of water and well placed bunkers.

Vilamoura Pinhal Golf Course in Vilamoura, was originally designed by Frank Pennink and received several refinements were incorporated over the years, the most significant one by Robert Trent Jones Sr. in 1985. The course is an exciting mixture of British and American style holes, a challenging game has many of the holes are long with a variety of dog legs.

The course is covered with a variety of pine trees, the front nine playing around the houses that line the fairways; the back nine offering up some more space and views of the sea beyond. There are ponds and streams found on five of the holes but these are supposedly there as decorative features, rather than serious hazards.

Quinta da Ria Golf Course is located in Vila Nova de Cacela within the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve, its layout has already been described by experienced golfers as the most breathtaking golf course in the Region.

Stretching from Faro along the coast towards the border with Spain, the unspoilt natural woodlands and wetlands form a major part of the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve. Beautiful, rugged and wild, the protected land, known locally as “Sotavento“, provides Quinta da Ria and its sister course (Quinta de Cima) with a wonderful haven away from commercialisation and a promise of no villa-lined fairways and years of noisy building sites.

Opening for play in 2002, the Quinta da Ria Golf Course was designed by the well-known architect Rocky Roquemore, and is a traditional par 72 layout measuring 6,016 metres from the back tees. Quinta da Ria is a fairly flat, parkland course where there’s usually a challenging breeze with which to cope. Designed to provide a good challenge for all standards of golfer the course has wide landing areas that have been created to receive well-struck shots.

The pleasant sea views and sandy beach islands, combined with the mountain landscape of the opposite site undoubtedly make Quinta da Ria a golf paradise.

Real Bendinat is an attractive course with pretty spectacular sea views. One of its main plus points is playing against the backdrop of the magnificent Bendinat castle. Much of the course is built round a steep valley, making the hire of buggies a must for the less mobile golfer and the downright idle. While shortish in distance and wide open in places this is not an easy course, but it is great fun.

With a number of dog-legs, water hazards and small greens this course can present a challenge for even the most accomplished of players. Players are forced to use every club in the bag to get around in par, especially on the dogleg of hole 3, or the elevated green on hole 14. The par 5 eighteenth at 454 meters is a fabulous finishing hole. Sweeping all the way gently to the right, your tee shot and second need to be long enough to give you a sight of the green for your approach.

Designed by William Mitchell from the USA and opened in 1974, Quinta do Lago South Course hosted the “Portuguese Open Championship” eight times; 1976, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1990 and 2001, and many other important professional and amateur championships. It has also hosted many large professional and amateur championships.

Quinta South is a par 72 with 6,500 metres set in a natural setting surrounded by umbrella pines, lakes, wild vegetation and with the stunning Ria Formosa in the backdrop. Each hole has generous landing areas off the tees and well-defined routing amongst the woodland pines’ setting. This layout encourages the average player to hit their drivers, but calls for accurate driving and fairway shot precision to reach the greens in regulation.

Mijas Los Lagos was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr is located in the sought-after area of Mijas Costa, a mere 20 minutes from Malaga in Costa del Sol, Spain.

In 2012 the course was closed for one year and underwent a full makeover, widening fairways, adding new streams, lakes and bunkers plus installing a state-of-the-art watering and drainage system, which allows the course to be played in all weather conditions.

Mijas Los Lagos is a golf course with soft slopes, wide fairways and few forest tree obstacles, as its name suggests the course uses water as a major feature and comes into play on nine holes.

One of Mijas Los Lagos’s most characteristic and difficult holes is the par 5 thirteenth. Seen from elevated tees it looks deceptively easy but at the approach to the green there is water left and right, also beware of the slope as even a well-hit shot is in danger of rolling off the green into the water. the 5th a 571-metre monster is also “interesting”.

The golf course is very open and almost free of rough and is practically flat except for a slight incline up the 18th hole and unless you find one of the many lakes you will struggle to lose a ball.

Mijas Los Lagos clubhouse is a traditional Andalusian farmhouse that is ideally located between the two golf courses, the perfect place to meet with fellow golfers both before and after your game.

Lisbon is an extremely fortunate golf destination. Not only is it a fascinating riverside city, but it’s also within spitting distance of beautiful beaches, natural parks, distinct wine regions, medieval towns and of course home to some of the championship golf courses in the country that make Lisbon a great golf destination.

T***a Golf Course is an hour away from Lisbon centre and after a lovely short ferry crossing from Setubal to the Peninsula of T***a, next to the Sado River estuary and Tourism is the peninsula’s main activity due to its long beaches facing the Atlantic. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Senior the T***a Golf Course is rated by many as the top golf course in Portugal but slips under the radar for many.

Almost surrounded by water with the accompanying sea breezes, this is a course with many links-like attributes. The greens are small with naturally shaped defensive bunkers and hummocks, The fairways run fast and rather than running off to rough you will likely have a few yards of sandy ground before reaching heavier vegetation.

It’s also a very pleasant walk, unlike other courses there are no long walks from green to tee, rather you will step from one green pretty much always onto the next tee which makes for a lovely rhythm to your round.

EL Paraiso Golf Course's greatest appeal is
its location. The weather in southern Spain is
world-renowned, with over 300 days of sunshine every year. Situated 14 Km from Marbella in a valley surrounded by hills with magnificent views of the coast.

The course was laid out in the early 1970s by “Black Knight” Gary Player and renowned architect Ron Kirby, the designers laid out the course to take advantage of the slope of a hill that runs down to the sea. The clubhouse, situated in the middle of the course, is rustic but very popular.

The 18 holes are set in a valley that runs from the
Mediterranean to the foothills of the Sierra Bermaja Mountains, measuring just over 6,600 yards the course is a par of 71 with its fairways being quite wide that demand players to attack them quite carefully because the roughs are dangerous traps. The water hazards
play an important role, both for the beauty they
add to the course and because of the dangerous streams lying hidden in the roughs.

The signature hole is the par-five, doglegged 6th where a lake must be avoided on the right of the fairway and the putting surface is a tricky, two-tiered affair. Many, however, rate the attractive, downhill, par-four 8th hole even higher as its fairway and greenside bunkers are so pleasing to the eye.

El Paraiso combines a great championship course with a friendly and warm atmosphere for all visiting golfers.

Boavista Golf is an 18-hole championship golf course located in the Western Algarve on the outskirts of Lagos a city famous for its stunning beaches with beautiful rock formations and steep cliffs. Within 16th-century walls, the old town is made up of cobbled streets, seafood restaurants and Baroque churches, while some of the coastline’s best beaches, kayaking spots and surf schools are a short drive or walk away.

Boavista Golf offers you stunning views of the Bay of Lagos to the east and the Monchique mountains to the north, designed by Howard Swan the course opened at the start of the new millennium, taking advantage of the natural contours of the terrain and as a result, it presents plenty of challenge, especially on holes six and eight where you have to hit your ball across a ravine!

The course has established itself as one of the best courses in the area. The layout has been cleverly thought to preserve and integrate harmoniously the area’s natural terrain.

In the southwest corner of the layout, holes 6, 7 and 8 at the highest point of the course use the natural contours of the terrain really well to form an interesting triangular loop, with the par-three 6th and par-five 8th requiring forced carries across a rather intimidating ravine.

On the back nine, holes generally descend towards the clubhouse, with the right doglegged, 390-metre 15th regarded as the toughest hole on the card. The 418-metre 18th shouldn’t be underestimated either, veering right off the tee to a heavily sand-protected home green.

In the clubhouse, you will find an extensively stocked golf shop as well as superb dining facilities. In the well-equipped health club, a wide range of treatments is on offer. The impeccable services at Boavista Golf are completed by an excellent golf academy.

Located in the Cadiz municipality of San Roque, close to Sotogrande in Costa del Sol, Spain. The La Hacienda Alcaidesa Links course is scheduled to open in June 2022 and will run along the beachfront with spectacular views of the Mediterranean, Gibraltar and Africa.

The Texas-based golf course architect Kurtis Bowman has redesigned the Links Course. Originally the course was designed by Peter Alliss and Clive Clark that overlooks the Mediterranean Sea and Rock of Gibraltar.

The renovated layout introduces new greens that are unique in Spain for their size and undulations, as well as new bunkering and strategic hazards throughout, the course is set to be a thrilling challenge for every level of golfer. A new contemporary clubhouse, driving range, and practice area have already been completed ahead of the golf course reopening.

La Hacienda Alcaidesa Links has put itself on the map among Europe’s elite golf venues after becoming the latest to join the European Tour Destination network.
