There is a large population of turkey vultures that live here in the valley. Everyday for hours they amass in the sky, riding, almost effortlessly, the thermals.
As the thermals move, the vultures move with them, staying within the uplifting power, circling. Sometimes the circle is tight, and they are packed closely together, and other times the thermal is spread out, and then so become the vultures. Other times the thermals split, and so do the birds, separating into two groups. At one moment they will be circling close to the Earth, and then within moments the current will left them thousands of feet skyward.
The thermals are not visible, but even so the large birds can feel them, sensing them, and can stay within that power for hours on end, hardly flapping a wing. The higher they go the greater vision they enjoy across the great expanse not afforded the lowly Earth bound.
I deeply enjoy watching those beautiful birds floating upon the invisible, reminding me of how the thermal circling winds of knowledge come up, from the Earth, invisible, yet pronounced, and all one must do to ride them is open up, at the point of no turning back, fearless, and the wings of the spirit, the wings of perception, will ascend to the near limitless expanse.
Our Earth, and Her nature, have many voices for those willing to be silent and listen, and learning to fly is but one of them.
What will you see today my friends!
