Have you heard about Via Transilvanica?

Also called "the road that unites", it is a 1400 km hiking trail that crosses Romania diagonally from Putna to Drobeta Turnu Severin.

Via Transilvanica is a project by the NGO Tășuleasa Social, born in 2018 and it is inspired by trails like Camino de Santiago or Appalachian Trail.

Millions of Orthodox Christians worldwide observe Easter, also known in Romania as "Paște". People usually attend at midnight a church liturgy, carrying burning candles which simbolize the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Then, on Sunday, families and friends gather for a traditional lunch or dinner where meals include: boiled eggs, painted red, lamb, "pască" and "cozonac".

9th of March is not just an usual day for Romanian people. On this date the Orthodox Church celebrates the Forty Martyrs of Sebaste, commonly known as "mucenici" and usually for this day in every household is prepared a very loved, traditional sweet dish called... "mucenici" or "sfințișori" (Little Saints).

But when it comes about the recipe there is a controversy. In Moldova region people bake this big, fluffy cakes, smeared with honey and walnuts, while in Muntenia and Dobrogea they make these little, dry "8" figures which are boiled and then served with sugar syrup and crushed walnuts.

Our friend made both of the recipes. Which one do you like more?

Our wishes for snow finally came true! Don't know how much will last, but these days we fully enjoyed the slopes as much as we could. Sunny days will always reveal spectacular sceneries, but foggy days have their mistery touch too. Also, let's not forget about taking a well-deserved break at .postavaru, they have the best "biscuit salami" ever.

Unfortunately, today is a sad day for the natural heritage of the world, Bigar Waterfall, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world, unique for how the water poured over the moss carpet, collapsed.
The heaviness of the moss was too much for the rock and it broke under its weight. The authorities are investigating if the collapse was due to natural causes or if the change of the course of the river had something to do with it.
Now we will enjoy the view of Bigar Waterfall in the new shape, nature is changing and we are having the chance to witness the change. Who knows how nice it will look next year or in a few thousands of years.
