We are delighted and thankful that we had the tourists group of ladies from (KTAA) Kuwait Textile Arts Association🇰🇼 for 7 days in Romania 🇷🇴. Spotlynx offered them a tailored made tour with visits of the most of important attractions in Bucharest and Transylvania. During their stay, they also had the opportunity to see the Romanian Traditions, where they participated at textiles workshop ,and discovered how the original Romanian fabrics are made and preserved to keep the traditions of our country. We would like to thank them for the visit and we are looking forward on seeing them again in Romania!

⚡The Vidraru Dam is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Romania 🇷🇴
The construction of the Vidraru Dam and Hydropower Station began in 1960 as a strategic objective for the Romanian energy system and was completed five and a half years later. The hydroelectric station was commissioned in 1966, when the dam was the fifth largest of its kind in Europe and the ninth largest in the world.
To build this impressive structure, 42 kilometres of underground tunnels were drilled and 1,768,000 cubic metres of rock were excavated. The underground power station can produce around 400GWh of electricity and has an installed capacity of 200MW.
Extreme sports can be practised in the area, with a bungee jumping course. There is also a wharf near the dam for pleasure boat trips. Another attraction is the Monument of Electricity, or Iron Man, a 10-metre-high statue of Prometheus holding a thunderbolt.
Nearby there are hotels, cabins and restaurants with a wonderful view of the lake, where you can enjoy a coffee and traditional dishes, or stay to breathe the fresh mountain air and enjoy what this beautiful area has to offer.

The Danube Cauldrons are a picturesque section of the Danube Gorge, about 9 kilometres long. The beauty of this place is due to the fact that the river narrows down to 230 metres in some places and the water flows through the rocky and vertical walls in an endless dance.
The name ‘cauldron’ refers to the fact that the surface of the water is turbulent due to the high flow of water, which swirls and seems to boil.
Near Mraconia Bay, between the villages of Eselnita and Dubova, an unusual sight seems to stand guard. It is the portrait of the Dacian king Decebal, carved directly into the rock by a group of sculptors and alpinists, led by the sculptor Florin Cotarcea, over a period of ten years, from 1994 to 2004.
The statue is 55 metres high and 25 metres wide and is the largest stone sculpture in Europe. For comparison, the Statue of Liberty in New York is 46 metres from top to toe and 93 metres high including the base.
The idea of this bas-relief was taken after the rock on Mount Rushmore.

The National Museum of Romanian History (MNIR) is the most important museum of the Romanian State and is located in Bucharest. It holds objects of historical value dating from prehistoric times to the present day.

The museum was founded in 1970 and the building in which it is housed is a historical monument, built at the end of the 19th century in neoclassical style.

There are three permanent exhibitions hosted by MNIR and numerous other temporary exhibitions. Among the permanent ones is the life-scale copy of Trajan’s Column, an exhibit of great historical and artistic value, made between 1934 and 1940 in Vatican.

In the Historical Treasure Room, in more than 40 showcases, there are more than 3000 special pieces (some of them unique) made of precious metals and stones. Among them are: numerous treasures, a princely Getic helmet, the Dacian bracelets discovered in Sarmizegetusa Regia or objects and jewellery of some rulers and of the Royal House of Romania.

The Lapidarium collection includes architectural, religious and funerary objects from the Greco-Roman, Late Roman and Medieval periods.

In winter, Romania’s ski resorts are very popular with local and foreign tourists. There are slopes specially designed for children, amateurs or experienced skiers. Some slopes are equipped with snow cannons, night-time facilities and access is by cable car, chairlift, gondola or ski lift.

The degree of difficulty is indicated by the colours:
🟢green slope - for ski and snowboard lessons
🔵blue slope - for beginners
🔴red slope - medium difficulty
⚫black slope - high difficulty

The most popular slopes in the country are in Poiana Brasov, Sinaia, Bușteni, Azuga (one of the oldest ski resorts in Romania), Predeal, Păltiniș, Straja, Vatra Dornei, Harghita Mădăraș, Rânca, Transalpina, Cavnic, Râușor, Borșa, Piatra Fântânele.

In Poiana Brasov there are 12 slopes, the longest being Drumul Roșu (4752 m), Sulinar (2820 m), Lupului (2605 m), and access to them is by cable car or chairlift. Poiana Brașov also offers special slopes for snowboarding, as well as a jumping area and trails for cross-country skiing. In addition, there are many services and facilities available, such as the ski shop, rental centres, ski schools, bars and restaurants near the slopes.

In Sinaia, there are 18 ski and snowboard slopes, one of which is equipped with a night slope (the Gondola slope, an easy 40-metre slope). These slopes can be reached by chair lift, ski lift and cable car.

Other well known slopes in the country are Cazacu and Sorica (Azuga), Cocoșul, Clăbucet and Subteleferic (Predeal), Straja, Bradul.

Exciting news from Miss Tourism of the Globe 2023! 👑

Romania’s very own Adina Kofă has been crowned Miss Tourism of the Globe 2023 in a dazzling ceremony held in , in December 2023.

Adina Kofă (Danci) beautifully expresses her vision for this prestigious title: “First, I would promote the beauty in all forms, spiritual heritage of human souls, traditions, the values of nations, the beliefs in Peace, Art, Empathy, Compassion, and the most important Love.”

She believes that true beauty comes from within and reflects outward through kindness, caring for others, and compassion, ultimately making the world a better place. Adina’s commitment to promoting the miracle of love and life shines through her entire being.

Adina is 26 years old, from Maramureș, and works in the medical field. She is also a volunteer at the Maramureș Emergency Situations Inspectorate, is passionate about aviation and wants to become a pilot.

Adina Kofă participated for the first time in a modelling contest in 2021 - the Miss Tourism Romania contest, which she won.

The old town of Bucharest is one of the Romanian capital’s main tourist attractions. The historic centre complex is a classified historical monument and includes several buildings of great importance: Manuc’s Inn, the Old Court, the Little Paris Museum, the Pinacoteca Palace, the National Museum of History, the Macca-Villacrosse Passage (home of the first stock exchange in Bucharest), the CEC Palace, churches, the National Bank Museum, as well as Romania’s official Kilometre Zero.

Although mud volcanoes can be found in several places in Romania, those in Buzau County are the best known and the most spectacular. There are four sites manifesting this phenomenon, the most famous being Paclele Mari (150.000 sqm) and Paclele Mici (100.000 sqm), both included in the list of natural monuments since 1924.

The mud volcanoes were formed thousands of years ago on the surface of the earth by the eruption of natural gases at a distance of about 3000 metres. These eruptions create cones on the surface because the mud hardens on contact with the air. The mud in the volcano is constantly being pushed out by the natural gas, so it bubbles up into the craters.

The landscape is like something from another planet, with no vegetation and mud flows that gradually dry out and crack from the heat of the ground.

From 1900, and especially during the reign of the monarch Carol I, Bucharest acquired a look very similar to the capitals of Western Europe, especially Paris, and that’s why it was called “Little Paris”.

In fact, the French capital served as a model for many of the public works carried out in Bucharest at that time. Foreign architects brought to the city designed buildings that still today show a part of the French metropolis in Romania.

In addition to the buildings, the Romanians also adopted the dress, language and customs of Paris, making Bucharest an emancipated and French-speaking place.

Even today, there are many buildings in the Romanian capital that are reminiscent of Paris: The Kretulescu Palace, built at the beginning of the 20th century in Renaissance style near Cismigiu Park, the Vernescu House on Calea Victoriei, the CEC Palace, also on Calea Victoriei, the Cotroceni Palace, the Arch of Triumph - in the northern part of the city.
