Aceste biserici fortificate cu zidurile lor masive, fortificațiile și turnurile lor de apărare construite de comunitățile sătești de sași sunt extraordinare. Prin ele, sașii nu doar că au supraviețuit atacurilor și invaziilor, dar ne-au transmis mărturia geniului lor constructiv, a meșteșugului lor și a culturii lor excepționale.
