The Fire Tower (Foișorul de Foc), a historical symbol of Bucharest in my childhood neighborhood ❤️
The 42 m (138 feet) building was the highest in town when it was built back in 1892, and served as a fire lookout tower until 1910. It is home now to the Fireman's Museum and from the top offers beautiful panoramic views over the eastern part of central Bucharest.

Vechea clădire a Poștei de pe Calea Dorobanților din București, cu fațada decorată cu mozaic albastru ca cerul 🙂, exemplu tipic de arhitectură modernist-socialistă din anii 1970.

The old Post Office building on Dorobanti Avenue in Bucharest, typical 1970s 'socialist modernism' architecture. I like the blue mosaic decoration of the façade.

Yesterday, with American tour guests at Mogoșoaia Palace, outstanding historical and cultural landmark near Bucharest.

Mogoșoaia Palace, completed in 1702, was left to us by Prince of Wallachia and Saint Martyr Constantin Brancoveanu, revered in the popular memory because he preferred to die together with all his four sons, rather than renegading his Christian faith.

Undeva pe la jumătatea drumului dintre Vâlcea și Pitești, retrasă și ascunsă intre dealuri, se află Biserica mănăstirii Cotmeana, aparent unul din cele mai vechi așezăminte monahale din Țara Românească. Ridicată din zid de însuși Mircea cel Bătrân, pe locul unei biserici din lemn mai vechi. Frescele interioare în culori vii și ancadramentele sculptate în piatră sunt însă din epoca lui Brâncoveanu, adică din perioada de maximă înflorire a artei medievale în Țara Românească.

Biserica fortificată din Valea Viilor, monument listat ca patrimoniu UNESCO.
Aceste biserici fortificate cu zidurile lor masive, fortificațiile și turnurile lor de apărare construite de comunitățile sătești de sași sunt extraordinare. Prin ele, sașii nu doar că au supraviețuit atacurilor și invaziilor, dar ne-au transmis mărturia geniului lor constructiv, a meșteșugului lor și a culturii lor excepționale.

Bethlen Castle in the village of Criș near Sighișoara, the main residence of the powerful Bethlen family. A hidden gem. In recent years it has recovered from ruins to a new life (still a work in progress). The loggia is a wonderful example of the Transylvanian Renaissance.

I was amazed by Saint Margaret Evangelical Church in the medieval Citadel of Mediaș. It's my subjective opinion, but this is the most beautiful Saxon Lutheran church I know in Transylvania. Mediaș Citadel is a Sleeping Beauty, but it is worth visiting if even for this church only. It's a hidden gem.
