✨A city loaded with history and culture, Suceava was the throne of the Medieval Principality of Moldavia until 1565. You can step inside the churches where the princes were crowned and see the unconquerable fortress they built to repel the Ottomans.
👉Let’s explore the best things to do in Suceava:
𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗢𝗳 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗮
One of the many in the line of fortresses was built all over Moldavia when the threat from the Ottoman Empire grew large in the 14th century.
𝗣𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝘂𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗮
A group of Romanian cultural treasures is scattered across Suceava County. Most require a drive, but none are more than 60 kilometers away. What they all share is spellbinding Byzantine architecture and outside walls that are painted with murals that have kept their vitality since the 16th century.
But if you have to pick just one it has to be Voronet Monastery, 30 kilometers to the southwest. The paintings at this monastery are still vivid and evoke scenes like the Last Judgment and the Ladder of St John, produced in 1547.
𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗮 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘂𝗺
Established by the Museum of Bukovina, the city’s planetarium is now operated by the university and is somewhere to bring young astronomers on rainy days. The main hall has Zeiss ZKP top projector that can show 6,000 stars and has side projectors that can illustrate moving objects like Galileo satellites, the Donati Comet and shooting stars.
ℹ️Visiting these objectives will require prior verification in order to fit the need for our wheelchair user friends. Most of them are suitable for seniors and slow walkers.

A place full of history.
𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆, 𝘄𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝗔𝗹𝗯𝗮 𝗜𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗮.
One of the oldest settlements in 🇹🇩Romania, known in ancient time as Apulum, Alba Iulia served as the largest military and economic center during the Roman occupation. Temples, mosaics, thermae and statues, amphitheaters, the governor's palace "Daciarum Trium" – all rendered the original Dacian Apulul as the miniature copy of the mother Rome.
From these amazing sights suitable for visiting to seniors, slow walkers and wheelchair users, we recommend:
✔𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗹𝗯𝗮 𝗜𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗮 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗹 - one of the most beautiful places in the area and one of the biggest attractions in Transylvania. Inside the fortress, there are buildings with high importance in history, from the Roman Empire era to our days.
✔𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹 - part of the National Museum and was built between 1898 and 1900. It is the building where The Great National Assembly voted for the Union of Transylvania with Romania.
✔𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗵𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗺 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 - founded at the end of the 18th-century. It was organized in the edifice of a former baroque church, transformed first by the imperial army into a military hospital, then into a cultural foundation according to the wishes of the bishop of Transylvania, Ignác Batthyány.
✨The library contains many incunabula and old manuscripts of great value, notably the Codex Aureus from the 8th-century.
✨The Coronation Cathedral - for the coronation of King Ferdinand and Queen Marie as monarchs of Greater Romania on October 15, 1922.
So, let’s take a trip back in time in nowadays Alb
𝗟𝗲𝘁’𝘀 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝗮 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿!
On our way to Transylvania - a melting pot of cultural and historical heritages (Romanian, German and Hungarian at least) – we make a stop to see the beautiful 𝗣𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗹𝗲.
✨It’s no secret Peles Castle is the gem of Sinaia. Its surroundings are breathtaking – lies in the foothills of the spectacular Bucegi Mountains. The gardens are a marvel. And the castle has what you’d expect for a royal residence: grandly designed rooms, luxurious tapestries and fabrics, expertly carved marble and wood.
✨Visiting Peles indoors is suitable for slow walkers and senior tourists. The ground floor is also accessible to our friends with a need for a wheelchair.
𝗔 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗹:
🔰It came to be the first in the world to be fully powered by locally produced electricity.
🔰The elegantly decorated frescoes in the movie theater were designed by the iconic Austrian artists Gustav Klimt and Franz von Matsch.
🔰The first movie projection in Romania is reported to have taken place in this room.
🔰It features a 500-year-old Cordoban leather wall cover that is well-preserved to this day.
Pelisor Castle was built at the turn of the 20th Century for King Carol’s nephew Ferdinand. He was next in line for the throne. Pelisor is more modest in its scale and decor, but completely worth a visit.
