Interreg VI-A Romania-Bulgaria Programme Celebrates Europe’s Day in Veliko Tarnovo !!

Today, on 9th May 2025, the Art Gallery “Boris Denev” came alive with color, music and friendship during the event “Romanian-Bulgarian Cultural Marathon’’ – a vibrant celebration of unity, culture and 35 years of Interreg cooperation!

Organized with the support of St. Cyril and St. Methodius University and the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo, the event took place in the framework of Interreg VI-A Romania-Bulgaria Programme and highlighted the 35th anniversary of Interreg Programmes in the context of Europe Day.

From poetry recitals to traditional dances, from shared history to folk music, the three-hour celebration highlighted everything that brings Romania and Bulgaria together – our nature, heritage, talents and projects!

Special thanks to all the wonderful guests who joined us, including local and regional leaders, university representatives and the Interreg team. Your presence showed just how strong and meaningful our cross-border ties are!

The children from the “Balgarche” folk ensemble stole the show with their energy and charm, while students from the Faculty of Philology brought Romanian and Bulgarian poetry to life. History lovers were treated to an inspiring talk about our shared past by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Stefan Minkov.

The newly revitalized Art Gallery – made possible through Interreg funding – was the perfect setting for this celebration, proving once again how powerful cross-border cooperation can be. It’s not just about projects – it’s about people, culture and building a shared future.

Here’s to 35 years of Interreg and many more years of friendship, creativity and collaboration between our two countries! 🇷🇴❤🇧🇬
