Cantacuzino Castle was designed with healing air in mind.

Prince Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino — one of Romania’s wealthiest men in the early 20th century — deliberately built the castle in Bușteni not just for beauty, but for health. The site was chosen because Bușteni is known for having one of the highest concentrations of ozone in Europe. The clean, crisp mountain air was believed to have healing properties, especially for those with respiratory conditions.

So Cantacuzino Castle wasn’t just a summer retreat — it was a luxurious wellness sanctuary long before wellness became trendy.

One of the most beloved customs is the painting of eggs, often done in intricate, symbolic patterns passed down for generations.

From Florida to the Romanian news — Beth & Kathleen’s journey to Maramureș was nothing short of magical!

These two inseparable friends arrived in the village of Breb, just in time to be interviewed by local TV about their experience discovering Romanian traditions. From learning about dowries to living like locals at Veronica’s Guesthouse, they fully embraced the spirit of the region.

And… a very happy (slightly belated) birthday to Beth, who celebrated her 67th with the most traditional gift — right here in the heart of Romania! 🥂

🏰Four days, three amazing travelers, and one unforgettable journey through the heart of Transylvania.

Ross, Sarah, and Christine joined our guide George for a tour filled with legends, landscapes, and history — from the royal elegance of Peleș Castle, to the mystique of Bran Castle, and the charming streets of Brașov and Sibiu.

They explored medieval citadels, wandered through cobbled squares, and admired some of Romania’s most breathtaking architecture — all with George’s storytelling and warmth to bring it to life.

Our most wanted tour right now? A magical day exploring Romania’s wild beauty and rich history — just like Adam & Rachel did with their guide, Andrei!

They visited the Zărnești Bear Sanctuary, where they met dozens of rescued bears and even adopted a bear named Alisa 🐻❤️ — a beautiful way to support the amazing work being done there.
