The uniqueness of the Baikal Lake can be a topic of a very long talk. To start with, Baikal is our planet's deepest lake (according to the data that will soon be specified by the "Miry na Baikale" expedition) att 1637 meters. The lake's waters form 20% of the world's pure clean water deposits (23,000 cubic meters). Baikal's volume is second biggest in the world, losing only to Caspian Sea. Scientist estimate that the lake is around 25-30 millions years old. That fact also makes Baikal unique as most lakes are around 10-15 thousand years old, especially ones of glacial origin. Usually after that long, lakes get filled with silt or turn into swamps.

Just a couple of hours drive from Moscow, there is a fertile, wonderful and simply joyful place - the Gremyachiy Klyuch waterfall. According to legend, springs located on the steep bank of the Vondiga River between the villages of Vzglyadnevo and Lyapino opened up thanks to the prayer of Sergius of Radonezh.

We can endlessly write about how beautiful and unique Baikal is. In winter it has a feature that cannot be found anywhere else on the planet - the famous Baikal ice.
The lake freezes entirely, except for a small area 15-20 km at the source of the Angara River flowing out of Baikal. The clarity and transparency of the ice is due to the peculiarities of the climate and the lake itself, and its thickness reaches 2 meters. The small amount of snow that falls there is blown off and grinds the ice to a mirror image.

In St. Petersburg, on the site of the assassination of Emperor Alexander II on October 18, 1883, the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood was laid. The construction lasted 24 years.

Now this monument of Russian architecture is one of the main attractions of the Northern capital. Many mysterious stories and legends are associated with it.

For example, the height of the temple is 81 meters. This number corresponds to the year of death of Alexander II - 1881. Another dome rises 63 meters above the pavement. This figure is the age of the emperor at the time of the fatal wound. Historians consider this a mere coincidence, but fans of urban legends are convinced that there is no accident here.

Today, the Palace is one of the most controversial, but extremely spectacular modern attractions in the center of Kazan. The northern wall of the Kazan Kremlin offers a panoramic view of the Palace and the embankment of the Kazanka River, which is popular with tourists.

Nikolskaya Street is located in the center of the capital - in the Tverskoy District of the Central Administrative District. It is one of the main arteries of Kitay-gorod and stretches from Krasnaya to Lubyanskaya square.

Probably, the name of the street comes from the Nikolsky Gate of the Kremlin, from where it began.
